He probably would.
He's awesome.
Are you guys seriously pushing the narrative that the Habs should be scared of a Carolina offer sheet?
I won't lose any sleep over it. - Scabeh
I know it's an expression, but if anyone loses sleep over hockey outside of the people who depend on it for income, you're doing it wrong. |

Big deal........just Dreger spreading rumours. For some reason he has been on the Marner offersheet bandwagon for months!
Go ahead and take an offer sheet Mitch. You have a chance to play for your dream team and make $10mil a year (reportedly) doing it and it’s not enough, need more money! I had enough of this with Nylander. Leafs would be far better off with the trade assets and cap space, or draft pics. If he doesn’t want to be here, trade his ass and get someone who does. |

Not at all, offer sheets remain rare. There are many ways a team that is pissed off at another can retaliate. At the GM meetings, when voting on something say Montreal really wants, submarine their attempt and veto it. When making a trade, make sure the asking price is higher from Montreal than any other team. You do it enough, there might be some pain and some pushback.

Ya it doesnt make sense. Mitch could probably sign a deal with the Leafs for 9.8 and boom it would be done IMO. Why hold out for 10.5 or less on an offer sheet to... A. Risk not playing for your hometown team or... B. Ever if its matched youve built walls with ownership. This all for a half mill. It wouldnt be worth it at 10.5. It would only be if it was 11.5 or more closer to 12 and up.

No Fuk that - the offer sheet would be better. If Lou was willing to pay $12.5 for the breadman he's willing to pay that for Marner. Only sticking points are is Marner willing to sign to play on the Island and are the Islanders willing to give up 4 first rounders?

Friedman said one team wanted to offer sheet Marner big money long term but Marner wants an offer sheet in the 3 year range, teams don’t want to do that because they have to repeat the process soon again. - ClarksonDavid
That kinda sounds like Marner is trying to use the threat of an offer sheet to force the Leafs' offer up, while at the same time trying to make sure a truly serious, and signable offer won't come in.

If Marner wants a 3 year offer sheet...good luck...aint nobody that dumb, although one can hope.
I'm more and more leaning towards the reasonable argument that he has more value as a trade, than as a player, at this point in time.
Without JT, he's a 60-70 point guy, and even with JT, Marner is a 20 goal scorer.
If someone is willing to give up 2 first rounders, a 2nd line winger and their top defensive prospect, I'd pull the trigger on that deal.
Cap money saved, means re-signing Barrie and Riley long term. Cant think of a better outcome, personally.
Even if Marner comes back and puts up 90 points again with JT, i still rather have a trade like that happen. Much more value in that. |

Maybe the team pitching the OS has already agreed to name Mitch as captain. He's as good as gone in Pauls eyes.
