I really like the move but I think the term and money show you what the league thinks of him |

Were they ever really in on him? - buffalofan19
Apparently it’s between MTL/BUF/WPG

Good deal. Decent player
Hope this doesn’t mean we’re out on Gardiner - sbroads24
I don't get the Gardiner love...he was the risto of Toronto, has a wonky back that will need surgery...is 29 yrs. old and is probably looking for that final big payday...
i'll pass...as I told gunnerstaal, let Pittsburgh have him

Mojo can play all 3 forward positions. Played RW with the Caps as well. He can slide on the right side with Skinner and Eichel or be the bridge 2C. |

He got the Tim Connolly in Toronto contract. If healthy it will be a very good contract |

People actually want Gardiner now??
Lmfaooooo. I haven’t been off these boards since Tuesday and y’all went nuts |

So I’ve been calling for the Sabres to sign Marcus Johansson for months now.
This makes me officially an INSIDER with SOURCES. Let’s not forget that I did this for months before Chris Stewart, Evander Kane, and ROR.
He played 3LW and center for Boston but can play either wing or center. Awesome signing. Great dollar amount. Short term. Perfect. - JVince11
you're not an insider until you were laughed at

Nah. Gardiner’s numbers have always been good.
He’s the opposite of Risto |

Just what they need, Gardiner AND Johnson.
Oof. |

Gardiner can push the pace offensively at 5v5, that’s the major difference. Liability defensively but he springs the offense. |

Very underrated player. Good deal for the Sabres. I would have taken him back at 4.5 in a heart beat but we dont have the space.

Unless we get a 2C this summer, I would try him at center in camp. But like you said, lots of flexibility with him. |

Solid move by Botts, congrats Jason!
2 years is perfect too, exactly what I wanted.
What's next?
Too many LW and RhD's package them for a solid RW? |

You’re not wrong when you said he is their Risto. He would need to play with a stay at home guy. |

am thinking he'll play on the right side...mitts will be better with either skunk or mojo on the right...wouldn't mind seeing goaloffson on the left
something like:
skinner--Eichel-skunk
goalofsson-mitts-mojo |

That would work too. Although I don't know how much time Johansson has had at RW. |

In terms of fan opinion, sure.
In terms of actual production, one is really good, the other is a below average top 4 |

i'm getting crucified!!!
and even laughed at!!!
thing is, regardless of how much better gardiner is than risto, although if you look at his numbers when the leafs were bad, they were very risto-like, he's 29 and has already implied that he'll need back surgery...and he's a ufa who'll probably be expecting $6m+ over a longer five or so year term...
i'm not willing to sign up for that

This should be the only thing that matters, no?
The only, and ONLY reason we shouldn’t want to add him as a second pairing LD over Jake freaking McCabe is the concern over his back. That I understand. |
