who would want to sign a 29 yr. old d-man with a wonky back to a longer-term deal? - Michael Pachla
No one. That's my point. If Gardiner were to sign here (which I am not counting on), it would be for a cap friendly deal. |

I think he's on the team now. It's a 3 horse race between Johansson, Mitts and Erod, and Johansson is 3 lengths ahead. They didn't sign him to play LW.
If Casey looks good this fall, Johansson might slide to RW, if not, Johansson is the dude - jcragcrumple
I think you said it, actually. The 2C/3C will rotate between Mojo, Mitts and E-rod until one rises above the other two. |

Good signing but 2c would be a reach for the player. |

Yup, I expect lines 2 and 3 to get similar ice time, but the Mitts line will get the favorable starts. Either Johansson or Erod will center a 2b line that gets the hard starts |

I think only mitts there has the range to be a real answer. Maybe a by committee will be a better solution than last year, but a reliable 2c still isn’t on this team. |

Hope that’s not true hopefully they view him as a winger and helping out at center when needed

The 2019-20 season is "when needed" imo
The good news is this move may have pushed Sobotka off the ice |
|
|
|
Next is a 2nd line center - gerbe75pts
They need to move some cap to do that. I am guessing Ullmark 1.5, McCabe 2 to 2.5, Larsson 1.4, and Erod 1.25. That takes us right up to the cap.
I wouldnt be surprised if they are trying to build up the supporting cast for Casey next year on line 2. |

If it doesn't we have bigger issues than we thought. I would take 2 more years of Larsson and Girgensons on the 4th over ONE more game of Slowbotka |

If Sheary is now a RW
Skinner-Eichel-Sheary/Nylander ------reinhart is needed elsewhere
Olofsson-Mitts-Reinhart -----scary in the D zone. Give them 65% ozone starts. Reinhart will produce
Vesey-Johansson-Erod ---- decent defensively, with some scoring punch still. Can swap C/RW

I'm just curious how did Reinhart get the nickname Skunk? - LeafGuy89
he was picked second overall
some strongly feel he is a bust because he is not getting 80 points a year, hence he is a skunk, he stinks
if he was picked 7th overall the same haters would be loving him
it's buffalo
there is a reason why we don't have nice things |

Johansson Casey Reinhart

Reinhardt might get a shot at centering the 2 line. I don’t love it, I do like it better than last year though. |

Johansson rarely plays center.
I honestly doubt they’re plan is to play him there.
He wasn’t a center in Boston or Jersey the last 3 years |

Casey was a plain milkshake in that role last year. Erod is the perfect third line center.
It’s good to have more flexibility. |
