I agree with this. We can’t go into the season with hoping / banking on johnnson being 2C. The Sabres did that with Leino and how did that turn out - Sabretooth9
If they have to, give Mitts Skinner and Reinhart. They'll put up points
Vesey-Erod-Mojo as the other line
If Olofsson is who we think he could be, put him with Eichel and Nylander/Sheary.
Eichel had 64p in 67g playing with Girgs and Pominville 2 years ago. People will probably female dog about his production, but if it helps the team, so be it |

Sabres still need a 2C.
And don’t we have enough left wingers?
Skinner
Johansson
Olofsson
Sheary
Vesey
Girgs (I guess you can call him a winger now)
Definitely a log jam. - Sabretooth9
I like the idea of Olofsson as Eichel's RW. Having him shoot the cannon on the off wing is exciting. Let Skinner clean up.
Skinns-Eichel-VO
Play Johansson with Mitts and Reinhart on the 2nd line. Mojo can be that possession driver that Mitts needs. He'll create scoring chances off the rush, perfect for Reinhart.
Johansson-Mitts-Reinhart
The bottom 6 is still a work in progress but we know Sheary (if he isn't traded), Vesey, ERod and Girgs will fit. Is Nylander or Tage an option there? I don't know. If they have the cap space, a guy like Brian Boyle centering either the 3rd or 4th line would be ideal. A veteran like him could be helpful to kids like Tage and Nylander.
Vesey-Boyle-Nylander
Pushing guys like Sheary and Okposo to the 4th line is a good thing.
Sheary-ERod-Okposo
Girgs could be the 13th forward. Waive Wilson to Rochester and send Sobotka to wherever or bury him.
Start Tage in Rochester, likely the first forward called up.

So we still need a 2C or is Mitts it and we'll surround him with capable wingers? - mhp
That’s my thought of what they will do, unless Risto is being moved for the 2c. |

Hopefully the Sabres understand that - gerbe75pts
100% agree with this
Based on our left wing depth. The Ehlers idea probly doesn’t fit |

If Reinhart sucked, it's one thing, but he doesn't suck
He's been one of our 4 good players for 3 years - jcragcrumple
I don't think anyone in here still thinks he sucks (FYI, he never did). It's just sort of funny to call him skunk still. |

Olofsson is a natural LW. It doesn't have to be written in stone, but that's his natural position to me. He could change for good, obviously |

Yeah I would keep him at LW
Olofsson Eichel Johansson
Skinner Mitts Reinhart
Vesey E-Rod Sheary
That is a much improved top 9 IMO |

And the cycle continues...
July: Yes!!! We got “insert 3rd liner / bottom pairing dman here”! Murray / Botterill is the best!!
Feb: Sabres out of playoff contention
May: I really hope we can package “insert 3rd liner / bottom pairing dman” with Alex Nylander to get a top six forward!
Okposo, Scandella, Bogosian, Miller, Johansson....they’re all the same, fellas. This is a superstar driven league, and the Sabres continue to throw money at marginal talent

Florida has got to be the trade partner...they're pretty strong up front and might be looking to shore up the d-corps...
gonna need to take back some salary as their about $5M from the ceiling with six players to sign - Michael Pachla
But after trading Bjugstad and Mccann last season they don't have any NHL centers to deal. Tallon did say they may still add a d man. If he does, I think it will be lower cost, stay home type of D. I still think Hoffman would be the only established NHL forward possibly available.
Denis Malgin might be worth taking a shot on. He won't beat out Trocheck or Borgstrom for middle6 center, but he is not a "fourth line" grinder type, either. FL has used him on wing, too. Has shown some flashes, but has never stuck. He is RFA, don't think they've re-signed him, yet. He will definitely have to clear waivers to be sent down to the A this season, and may be traded instead of having to try to sneak him through waivers. The kid has some skills.
I think Riley Sheahan is floating around FL still, IDK if they have or intend to re-sign him. |

I agree. When we were last good, Roysie was our 3rd line center. Honing his skills to become, in later seasons, a nearly ppg center.
Expecting an undersized/overweight rookie (Mittzy) to be a legitimate 2nd line c is the mark of a true dolt.
It takes time to develop nhl talent. |

Tarasenko is one.
But that's about it.
They have a deep team with a great D and a goalie who caught fire. |
