I don't really disagree. Principally, Z has played with Gardiner and Muzzin. Ceci has had Phaneuf, Lajoie, and Wiercioch. Now, the fact that Ceci is pretty much worse than everyone he plays with and so is Zaitsev is just a matter of degree.

So maybe Ceci is less awful than Zaitsev? It's probably still sort of like being the tallest midget in a slam dunk competition.

Well they both are 3rd pairing D.

Ceci was played in a top pairing role and Z was played in a 2nd pairing role.

Both are serviceable 3rd pairing guys I think. We have ours for one year instead of 5.

I assume the Sens thinking was Z was basically a FA signing. With the bonus they paid Z gets paid an average of 3.9 M per year.

OTT is a budget team so they essentially signed him to 3.9 for 5 years which is affordable.

When you look at Charriot and Tanev deals it’s not horrible on their part. They get Connor Brown out of it as well.

Basically being a Sens fan sucks...this is what they are forced to do to get ok players.

The problem is that it's not that unreasonable of a cap hit percentage. It's 9.6%, which puts him in line with Seabrook.
