What if mitts takes the next step?
He scores 45-50 points
What's mitts projection for production? - Boss34
Then we have a nice, 45-50 point 3C for next year and we're that much better off for it.
I agree, still need that 2C. |

What's a low expectation? 30 points? - Boss34
I'm not sure. I would think 30 is a low number that is attainable. |

I have to think that a move with a defenseman + will bring in a decent (hopefully) piece.
Does Gusev fill that role?
Who would you like to see, personally?
I don't know who is still up against the wall cap wise. I'm guessing Risto can't move until Gardiner signs somewhere. - thatsapickle
People would probably hate it, but Anisimov would come cheap and he would be a decent insurance policy for Mittelstadt |

I wouldn't hate it.
I'd prefer to stay away from Turris, and I think Anisimov has the experience and legs to be a bridge. |

Wilson, Sheary and Nelson
for
Eakin and Reaves
Two guys rumored to be available from Vegas. They only have 5 dmen signed. Saves them about $1.8m.
Or
Risto and Nylander
for
Tuch and Reaves
Saves them $1.2m and a 2 RD. Gets us a top RW and 4th line RW with toughness.
Or
Tuch
for
Nylander, McCabe and Larsson
Should save them around $1m. |

How about just McCabe straight up for Eakin?
McCabe made $1.6 last year. Can't see him getting more than $500,000 raise, can you guys?
Eakin makes $3.8 mil
Saves VGK $1.7 mil |

Why Reaves - gerbe75pts
He adds toughness (he had as many hits our top 3 forwards combined. Larsson, Girgs and Okposo.) Would have been 8th in scoring on this team last year amongst forwards. Has been in the playoffs 8 out of 9 years in the league. And is one of the players Vegas is looking to trade. |

Johansson - I played center when I came over from Sweden and in my first couple of years in Washington. It has mainly been on the left wing since, but I've jumped in at center here and there. #Sabres |

Reaves had a career year with 9 goals and 20 points.
The point that he would have been 8th in scoring points more to the lack of depth the Sabres had, rather than his wizardry with his stick. |

Reaves or Maroon would be welcome additions. Definitely bottom additions, but welcome. Problem is sobotka and okposo. They currently occupy spots one of these would fill. |

Something like Gusev-Mitts-Reinhart could end up being one hell of a 2nd line |

Just saw it on Instagram. Apparently Sabres have acquired Jesse Puljujärvi in a 3 way with Dallas/Edm. Not seeing anywhere else though. If true we sent Nelson/Sheary and a 2020 2nd as the outgoing assets. |

How many guys from last years roster need to be replaced before you feel like the Sabres are ready to compete?
Miller
Vesey
Johansson
Goaloffson
Nylander (pretend)
Cj Smith as a regular? Or Rochester guy
If botts makes 3 more nhl moves, that's 9 out of 18 possible skaters? - Boss34
Looking at the holes in the roster, then a 2c, a 1 or 2RW, and top pairing partner for Dahlin remain IMO.
I love the moves for Miller and Johansson, and am onboard with the one for Vesey, but those holes are still there and Vesey and Johansson slot as 3rd liners on a playoff team. They can play up in spells.
The challenge from my perspective is the 2C, immediate need versus long-term. Longer term I think Mitts or Cozens takes that spot...so do they spend valuable capital for a short-term solution...seems like bad asset management to me unless the cost is very reasonable. |

I'm keeping my expectations low, so that he can exceed them.
If he takes that step, then it's a win.
I'd still prefer another middle six player to help with depth scoring.
Ferland is still out there. Noesen is a possibility. - thatsapickle
I lost interest in him when it was looking like he was gonna get overpaid
But if we can get him on a 2year deal for like 3.5mil, that could be a nice move |

Has to be fake. Botts does not improve our roster. |
