That's where we disconnect, I wouldnt do a Hall for Gaudreau 1 for 1 this summer nor next February, even if we had an extension all negotiated. Hall is going to cost Tavares type of money & Gaudreau is going to be almost half. Jersey would have to add big time. But I would rather get a huge return for our superstar than wait knowing he is wanting to go back East to play. I think it's too soon for trading Gaudreau but who knows, maybe he's approached Treliving has said he would like to consider a move back East for family reasons. Would never trade Gaudreau for Hall straight up & not having an extension in hand.

If JG does not want to stay we gotta look and see what it is that we can get from an East coast team.

For sure with the way things are now you do not do 1 for 1. But if Jersey wants their golden boy maybe we can get an extended Hall with a little something something on the side.

I'd want something significant back because of age, contract & health/durability.
I know Hall was an MVP but he is injured a lot, about to turn 29 & cap hit could be almost double of Gaudreaus for 3 more years. I would add pieces but I'd want Hirshier back. How about Gaudreau & Monahan for Hall & Hirschier, lol. just spitting crap out.

The disconnect is that for some reason, you think that a team is going to trade to trade assets for a UFA even though it's never happened and will never happen because it makes no sense for anyone except the team losing the free agent. A team has also never waited until a player became a UFA, resigned them, and immediately traded them. After next season, it's not an extension for Hall, it's a new contract.

For sure you would want something pretty substantial. Cannot believe Hall is 29 now!

Totally agree, Hall for Johnny straight up would be a stupid (frank)ing move

Things get interesting if NJ is looking for futures + one of our young dmen (be nice to make a deal around Brodie-but I doubt NJ does that). Personally, I'd rather keep both of Rass & Valimaki but if something like Rass + Dube could get us Hall you'd have to at least consider it.

Johnny Money Hall
Tkachuk Backs Lindholm
Bennett Janko *Neal
Mangiapane Ryan Czarnik

Gio Brodie
Hanifin Hamonic
Valimaki Kylington

*I expect Neal to bounce back based on the flashes we'd see from him on occasion. Let's see what he does with a full off-season to rest & train properly.

I'd hate to lose Rass, but god damn that's a sexy top 6
