Thing is...
although we may need a 2C for this year,
we are actually STACKED at Center for the future
Eichel
Mitts
Cozens (good 2way game)
Asplund (good 2way game)
Those guys could ALL be ready for those roles by next season
If we really need to get a bum like Brassard for a year, then i guess that’s fine
But i don’t want us trading Risto for that guy
If we trade Risto,
then it should (hopefully) be for an Ehlers type scoring winger
And i still wouldn’t mind Ferland if the price has dropped on him as a UFA
Dzingel is interesting if the price/term are right too - jdfitz77
Nylander was supposed to be great, Grigorenko, Girgensons, Bailey, Baptiste, Myers, Adam, Gerbe, Pysyk, Zad
Etc etc
Let’s calm down on prospects until they perform in the NHL a bit. |

They could really use a veteran leader to help Eichel and shape the young kids into a team. |

I wasn't expecting a ton in FA, and certainly no big names/contracts. I expressed that it would likely be 2 or 3 Tier 3 signings.
I also thought there would be 2 trades, 1 involving Risto to bolster the O.
My "freakout" was and remains that the traditional trade windows had closed by this time last week, coupled with the fact several teams had then addressed their D needs with alternatives. Most trades come in the "lesser" types, such as that we saw today.
Could we see a major trade, absolutely. However the pool of prospective suitors was narrowing.
I still feel that way.
That said, Botts has exceeded my realistic expectations for this offseason already with the quality of moves he has made this far. He gets a solid A in my book. Move a RhD+ now for another solid 2C or 1/2RW and he has my vote for NHL GM if the Year already. - IonSabres
So like i said,
Your freaking out was premature
I’d have been like you if it was Aug28 and not June28
Ppl just overreact to seemingly everything on here
Idk why ppl lose their sh!t so much???
No offense intended |

I knew Nylander was a goner, wasn’t expecting him to be moved for a future Top 4 RHD though. Botts is the truth. |

Initial thought is I like the trade - gotta give Botts credit for doing a lot of what seem to be good low key moves so far. |

Well Mitts is projected as a #1,
so I’m pretty confident putting him at 2C
Cozens is a projected 1/2C, and is tough & good defensively... so yeah, i think he’ll be a really good 3C
And Asplund is a 2way guy with 3C potential
So again, slotting him a soo lower is something i feel very confident in
And that doesn’t include Davidsson, Routsalainen, or Pekar
I hear what you’re saying...
but Botts plan was OBVIOUSLY to build up the defense & center
And i really don’t think anyone can argue that he’s done that |

At some point he has to take the glut of d prospects to fix the offense |

8 years stuck in reverse being told to suffer, enjoy it, and damn it be patient.
It causes more than a little frustration.
I love all his moves so far! |

Met GMTM in Boston at a bar when the Sabres were in town playing the Bruins - at one point he said "if I have to fall on the sword so be it" almost like he knew he was on thin ice. Interesting guy, bought me a beer or two. |

I'm watching a version of YES on AXS TV with Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman. There must be 10 versions of this band, if I never see Steve Howe again it's to soon, he looks horrible, always has. |

Cozens reminds me of a poor man’s Jeff Carter. He will either slide in as 1RW or 2/3C depending on where Mitts slots in.
I’m very happy to be here. |

Just saw "Yes" at Artpark two weeks ago.
If Howe doesn't get Anderson and Wakeman back in, before it's too late, I will have just spent the last money I will ever spend on that band. It was not good.
People were WALKING OUT during their closing number, Gates of Delirium, which if you're a legit Yes fan, you don't walk out during that song. The last time I saw them play it, the crowd gave them a 5 minute standing ovation. |

If Casey can play second line center
This team can be a fringe playoff team like the Panthers
