Another nice pick up by Botts. Very impressed with his drafting and trades so far this off-season. Obviously there will be more changes coming unless the strategy is to play only Right D-men and Left-wingers.

The best thing about all of these moves is that it is now guaranteed that some of our trash won't be on the ice come October. Addition by subtraction as Homie says. Guys like Bogo, Scandella, etc have to be worried about their tenure in Sabreland. These moves also suggest that Tage is going to crack our Top 9 in one of the RW spots.

Exciting times, can't wait to see what happens next.

The RoR trade had made like 80% of hf Sabres fans sh!t on Botts for every tiny move, even for stuff he hadn't yet done/wouldn't be able to do.

I kind of found it as a nice source of humor since if you take both that and the Skinner trade, it's a net positive in favor of us. Most of his other deals at the time we're lower caliber outside of Montour, another + for Botts.

Now with Miller/Johansson/Joker/Vesey I guess, maybe a good Risto deal you can't really find much to complain about.

The Blackhawks brass has a pretty good track record of evaluating and drafting well at the forward position.

Part of the reason they have regressed as an organization is they've been unable to replicate that on the blue line, and haven't had a "hit" since Hjalmarsson via the draft.

But they also haven't drafted a talent like Joker.

Time will tell, but worst case for the Sabres, this deal is a wash with both teams picking up players that help them longer term. Odds are the Sabres made a steal here, if for no other reason than legit top 4 defensemen are very hard to find.

TT was a key part of the ROR trade. Thompson will be given every opportunity to succeed because of this. Rhino is obviously #1. After that, who do they have? Okposo? I see Johanson or Sheary flipping over to the right side as 2 RW with Thompson being the 3rd RW. Unless they make another trade, then all bets are off for TT.
