am thinking two more seasons of him...but then again, botts has said that he's not interested in buying out players - Michael Pachla
I want to be very clear that I am not hoping for him to get another concussion. I want to be very clear about that. But he has had 3 in the past 2 years. If he gets one more, he could very well be done |

Ok, Boss. Okposo is better than E-rod. You win - jcragcrumple
Statistically they were even in points last season.

Not gonna move on, they could have added to the 31 st to move him but Botterill made no effort to do so, none at all I was told. no matter buy out or not, he won't do that, Botterill doesn't like dead money. - SABRES 89
Maybe Botts didn't try because his years as a CapMixologist told him it is a wasted effort to try.
Let's say that Marleau's cost of 1 1st per every year of a $6m contract set the price...and then let's discount that by an aggressive 25% (probably should up lift by 25% in reality)...
Do you want to part with 3 1sts to unload it?
I sure as hell wouldn't. I'll wait it out...maybe Seattle, maybe Comp Buyouts reappear, maybe...
HE isn't hurting them this season, nor the season after that...why waste time, energy and assets now when there is no need. |

What's the recapture penalty if he retires after next season? |

I could post zone exits, charts, penalties drawn vs penalties taken, 5-on-5 stats, PK stuff, the fact that #71 plays all 3 positions, +/- if you want it, etc., etc.
But yes, they had the same amount of points |

I don't think he would voluntarily...if an injury forces him to, they'll simply place him on LTIR |

one is an undrafted kid that made 750 K
the other was a 42 million dollar free agent acquisition
any case made for okposo should not include e-rod, unless you are trying to find a worse fighter, and even then my money is on e-rod |

the fact a player making 750K is producing as much as a 6 mil okposo is really not a way to make your case
just sayin - homiedclown

There's 4m frontloaded. Spread over 3 remaining years = 1.33m. Fairly sure it's that simple. |

It’s not like we’ve ever had the option to add a Panarin for no assets |

Recapture Penalty is the amount of Net Cap Benefit realized / number of years remaing.
In Okposo's case, there has been $4m of Net Cap Benefit and he will have 3 years remaining after this upcoming season..so $1.3 per over following 3 years.
He would lose about $14m by walking after next season.
Might be better to talk to his wife about the health risk issues associated with playing vs that cushy job in the Broadcast Booth between periods for say $4m for 2 seasons. |

Tangentially related, but can you imagine if the sabres were the BJs and we lost Panarin, Bob and Duchene in one off-season? The collective psyche would never recover.
It would make Briere/Drury look like Franson walking in FA |

rangers will be in the playoffs in 2020 - homiedclown
Well when you are the city that never sleeps and can attract a guy like Panarin that helps. Let’s be real though, this rebuild has been in motion for the last 3 years even if they had relative success. |

Probably, but at least they knew it was a distinct possibility going into it.
A good casexstudy over the next couple years to watch. |

That's absurd.
Marroon won the cup this year
Tom Wilson beat reaves in the cup the year before.
Gone? More like winners - Boss34
Oh, FFS, ROR and Tarasenko won the Cup this year and Kuznetsov and Ovechkin beat, I don't know, Marchessault and Smith? the year before. Reaves scored 2 goals, one that hit him in the ass and bounced in and one where he cross checked a guy before putting it into an empty net. |
