And one other random thought for the haterz:

- I don't want to sign Muzzin next year.

He'll be 31 - and expect a $7 million or more contract with plenty of term. Let other teams reward him for past performance. That one has "huge mistake in the making" written all over it.

- Atomic Wedgie

Teams are being much more conservative with term for UFA over 30. Simmonds got one year. LA regrets signing Kovalchuk almost as much as Lou did. Doubt Muzzin gets anything over 3 or 4 years, and his offensive numbers don't justify more than $4 to $4.5 million.

Spezza doesn't replace Kadri - he replaces Gauthier.

Kerfoot replaces Kadri.

Odd that he conveniently forgot that Kerfoot was part of the trade.

Very, very odd.

I know. Imagine if we could say this about Gauthier?

"Big body with hard elite shot and decent speed for a big man; faceoff specialist. League minimum contract." Everyone would be talking about how well the Leafs draft in the later rounds.

Stralman just got 5.5. Muzzin will probably get 6

Very rude of you to post like this while I was typing the exact same thing.

Good day to you, sir.

Your point is bullsh!t. Willie has scored (even with last years totals) at a pace of .6778 points per game. Kucherov scored over his first three years on a more offensive team at a pace of .7062 Why are you making out like your opinion which if far from the consensus on this blog to be fact?
- winsix

Cause you can't win with Kucherov..

Just getting McFarland running the PP instead of DJ Smith will be an improvement. How the Leafs PP faded after an amazing first month was surprising.

Wasn't smith the guy who look after the D?

Gauthier actually had a really good season last year.
He got about 8mins ATOI, 17 points or so, winning 55% of his faceoffs and starting about 70% in defensive zone (I am not bothered to look up the exact numbers).

4th line might be Spezza - Gauthier - Moore

At least not last year. Only 6 upsets in the first round.

I don't think he'll be resigned, not unless he takes a discount.

Speaking of discounts: how the (frank) does Kevin Leblanc sign a 1M deal with 53 points? We could only dream of having that kind of luck with our RFAs.

I have no problems with Gauthier and you may be right, but the haters are acting like we just signed Spezza to Andrew Ladd money/term.

I've coveted Bennett from the getgo, just for the Commando references.

This regime did trade away Marleau. Needed a sweetener, 1st round pick. This regime did trade away Zeitsev. Needed a sweeter, Brow. So they were necessary deals for sure, but it's not like these are executive of the year deals. The Kadri deal was not too bad, although I assumed they would look for another defensive guy, maybe they will.

There are guys on one side worshipping Dubas like he's some sort of genius, and there are guys on the other side claiming he is a bum.

It's neither.
