The best DMen seem to score a lot of points. - RogerRoeper
Pietrangelo won the Cup as the #1 D and only scored 41 so it's nice but playing defense should be the priority. |

Cool.
Barrie isn't as good as any of them though.
And he's a rental. |

So you know he's leaving? Just like Nylander was a lock to get moved and Marner had those offersheets coming?
They have the cap to sign him at 8 million per. You are aware right? |

What I learn here is every upcoming Leafs UFA is in fact leaving, along with every RFA leaving with an offersheet. (frank)ing ridiculous.
We signed the biggest UFA in over a decade but everyone can't wait to leave... |

I had like 100 people guarantee me Nylander was being traded this summer because the Leafs were in "Cap Hell". And the offersheets! LOL Loafs. |

A lot of his mistakes were overlooked last year, maybe he has a better year this year but that might be a waste of money too. |
|
|
|
Because you are doing what everybody says but is wrong. He isn't a lock to leave at all! They have the $ to sign him.
They also got a younger, cheaper and a player who was close to Kadri last season with less TO in Kerfoot.
It's ridiculous. People are already saying goodbye to Barrie before he plays a game. - RogerRoeper
It's in the media that he wants 8 million per for 8 years on his next deal.
Just take a breath for a sec and do some math. You really can look at what they had to shed this year just to fit him at 2.75, and think anything close to that is a possibility?
Good one. |

The problem is you need D and I'd rather have a Barrie for 8 than a Muzzin for 6. It's actually easier to find a MUzzin than Barrie.
Dubas won't waste his cap room on slow secondary talent. |

You don't have to throw a tantrum because people are concerned about it. There's a realistic chance it will be incredibly tough. That's without even factoring in whether he would want to sign in Toronto long term. |

Have you looked at next year's cap yet? They have the 8 million easy. $ is coming off and yes, that cap will go up. In 2 years it'll go way up due to Seattle.
Just because they are so tight this year doesn't make it so every year. Your argument is dumb. |

They can break the bank on a guy who is worth it. Don't think either one really is.
And one day, Rielly will get a new contract too. What's that going to be?
They can ride the ELC train and if they can get Nylander's value back up maybe he can help bring in the guy who is worth breaking the bank on. |

I'm just tired of hearing how all these core players will have to be moved and they don't get moved.
Where's the Nylander trade Where's the offersheets? I guess Zaitsev and Marleau could get traded afterall |

Have you noticed it's actually other people that are wrong? I remember how Marleau and Zaitsev could never be moved, the offersheets, the Nylander trade...
Nothing has gone the way people told me it would.
Fact: Leafs HAVE the cap to give Barrie 8 million per if they choose. |

There is a good reason for that. Leafs have 3.x mill in Cap space, Horton on LTIR before the season starts gets that space freed up but comes at a penalty. There is no penalty if activated after the season starts. Regardless of what happens with Horton, his cap space goes to Marner and that doesnt fully cover what he is likely to get.
Next you have Barrie who reportedly wants an 8 mill per year deal. That is an 5.3 mill cap increase for the Leafs. Sure you can use the cap space from Muzzin and Ceci but you also got to replace them as well as sign another 2 Dmen and a backup goalie.
There is going to be another Cap crunch |

And 26 million next year with no cap increase (Which there will be).
You're making my point for me. Barrie's 8 million would start in 2020.
I have made it clear I do not believe Leafs will attempt to keep Muzzin. |
