I'll give him credit when he can shed some salary. Being a team close to or in cap trouble, without core signed, and not being a playoff team isnt a good look. He has his work cut out for him.

Benning, what a great deal

Haters in shambles again, keep on crying about LE, you losers

Interesting if true. My take is the push is on full speed ahead. Between FA & JB they must see the prospect pool is in good shape & the division is wide open so the time is right.

Oh, only Boeser isnt signed.....and cap trouble is a dreamed up narrative by JB haters.

If it means dumping bottom 6 players to fit top 6 players under the cap, then thats the cap trouble I want!

If you have to, you bury those contracts in the minors and I'm pretty sure FA is on board with it if they continue to chase free agents....

- chompsey

Burying players in the minors gives minimal cap relief chompsey. It's not a narrative, its fact. Boeser, hughes, gaudette, all need new contracts and petey the following year. People can call it a narrative because it isnt currently an issue, and that's fine, but to ignore that our core will need new contracts and space is limited, it's not narrative if numbers support the claim. I wont spout off on benning until he cant do it, but to be wary of the upcoming issues is a real concern

I imagine virtanen, tanev and sven are being heavily shopped right now, maybe sutter at 50% retained. Benning needs to create some space
- Codes1087

If Ferland is true & BB comes in at say 7m or less what makes you think space is needed?

Not sure tbh. Ferland at 3.5. Leivo at 1.5. Benn at 2. These are all very good value signings though imo.

We currently dont have space to sign boeser to 7 mill though

Does Ferland make Sven redundant? Maybe he's the one on the move.

Buffalo fans are saying that they need a 2nd line center and a winger to round out their forwards. Perhaps a deal is in the works involving Sutter and Sven for Ristolainan?

I've been on there today. I like the recent signings, but it's hard to ignore that we MUST shed salary. Interesting to see what happens.

But it is. You act as if 30 players signed actually impacts the cap. You also seem to have your head buried to the fact that players will be moved out. He's obviously not done

Also, Hughes doesn't need a new contract until the summer of 2021, same as Pettersson. By then Edler, Sutter, Baertschi, Schaller, Tanev, Pearson and Benn are all off the books....$24 million with an increasing cap - doesn't seem to fit the narrative

You missed the part where I said I'm interested to see what benning does to shed salary chompsey and that I wouldnt spout off on him unless something doesnt work out. I am not going on a tirade on benning, his recent signings have all been good value, myers is debatable

Ok? Lol.

Ferland at 3.5 gives the canucks 5 mill in cap space with goldobin and boeser needing to be signed. I imagine boeser gets 7 and goldy gets 1.25. I'm not being negative, I'm simply saying we need some space.

Ok ok, I can give you that.

Its been a helluva offseason and I like the aggressive approach JB has gone. He just couldnt continue with the same group but I hope he has a trick up his sleeve to add another RHD....
