Micheal Ferland (4x3.5m with Vancouver) is a bottom-six forward with a very good shot, an ok power-play impact, and a decent penalty differential. - manvanfan
All 3 of Ferland, Miller and Myers can shoot. Nyquist was rumoured and he can shoot it too, JB clearly targeting dudes who can shoot.
Add those 3 to Boeser and EP and suddenly this team goes from struggling to finish to having a group of guys who know how to finish off scoring chances.
No more excuses for Green and Brown, this team should produce offense at 5v5 and on the PP. |

Pure bull$hit - he's a top 6 guy on 25 of 31 teams |

I think the Canucks are having a good off season. I know the cool kids Hate JB but I think he has a good plan going. Should be a good fight out west to make the playoffs this year. |

miller ferland and a full seaon of pearson will be nice to see those guys be around the net. biggest complaint i had was not enough guys crashing the net, these guys seem capable of burying the rebounds from a boeser/petey/hughes shot |

Add Myers shot in there as well. The PP should be good |

I think that unless Winnipeg sorts of their defense, they will be the team that Vancouver leapfrogs into the playoffs..... |

I called the ferlund dream, I think this is a HUGE win at 3.5M - great value signing by him. Very surprised and from age 27-32...nice move by Benning.
It makes me wonder if we needed the JTM trade, as ferlund was free....but adding both into the top 9 in 1 year, 26 and 27 years old...the rebuild is over...as the old ones leave, we have a young crop coming in...loving it! - canucksfan1944
Great deal for sure- the main concern is his health. Has had many concussions and may not able to play much longer if they continue. I am really hoping he can stay healthy, i love watching him play |

The expansion draft is at the end of the 2020-21 season, so the question is, which year is in question for draft protection....is it the NMC for the 2020-21 or the NTC for 2021-22 season?
EDIT: If i read this site correctly, Ferland will not have expansion draft protection as his 2021-22 year is the year in question for the expansion draft.

Wrong, he has a NTC in 2021-22, thus eligible for the expansion draft....

yeah, worst case he gets shelved on the LTIR during the last year or 2 of the contract. At least he's valuable when he's on the ice, and at that cap hit, even if he plays more like a 3rd liner, it's still not a bad deal.
Canucks have been soft as better for ages so adding some sandpaper with guys like Ferland and Roussel is a welcome sight, especially since they can actually play in the top 9. |
