they are property right away

and yes, the league posted a list last time. i imagine with there being plenty of nmc's that change, they will provide some clarification

- johnnykarate

That clarification would be needed or contract has a clause NMC end date prior to expansion draft.

I’m fairly certain that the last time Tryamkin signed in Vancouver he received the entire year’s salary for the remainder of the year. As did Rafferty this past year. How else can you explain that his cap hit was $5+m?
- 1970vintage

Rafferty was a 1 year ELC

How is the cap hit calculated for one year entry-level contracts signed after the start of the season?
If a player is signed to a one year entry-level contract (ELC) after the start of the NHL season, that contract is subject to a unique cap hit calculation.

A notable aspect of the calculation is that the cap hit value is increased.

The cap hit is calculated as follows:
Cap hit = Signing bonus × total season days / season days remaining + base salary

Example:
Brogan Rafferty of the Vancouver Canucks signed a one year ELC on April 2, 2019. The contract has a base salary of $832,500, a signing bonus of $92,500, and there were 4 days remaining in the 186 day season:
Cap hit = $92,500 × 186 / 4 + $832,500
Cap hit: $5,133,750

I usually give them until January when all the wheels come flying off the bus.
I'm cautiously optimistic but I'm not getting my custom-made pom-poms yet.

It’s the new rage...

Ass backwards contracts. Went from cup winners paying big raises to big raises period. Paid for stats not team success. Desperation does funny things to a GM.

From the Province article regarding Ferland's signing:

The free-agent winger signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday.

The contract is four years at US$3.5 million per season, with a no-movement clause for the first two seasons, then a modified no-trade clause for the final two. Ferland has also reportedly agreed to be exposed to the Seattle expansion draft in 2021.

He's terrified of the possibility of seeing Marner in an Islanders jersey next season.

Curses end at some point... see Cubs. More moves may come. But yeah things can go wrong. Guess it's safer not to be let down.

At least on paper Canucks have players that can move up and down the line up and score. The added balance can strengthen player durability. Less injuries more chances to win.

Team is now bigger and harder to play against. Also, decent speed plus some high end talent on D & Forward.

Would it be nice to see a SCF final between SofterthanaBaby’sAss vs Canucks?

One team would get off the snide.
