Yeah its a reach. Just going with the theme where it seems Bowmen is having a brain-fart for offensive players. Nylander's NHL play and numbers are worse then those Canuck expendables... so you never know. - NuckUp
Big price, but they seem pretty good a t cherry picking young guys |

Ok all set here for the JB bash and stick with me here.
Make the marleau deal buy him out or potentially convince him to play one year but prob buy out
Use that 1st or ours if they insist for JT Miller
We still have a 1st then.
Trade Loui and Jake to Ott for a 6th or whatever. Yeah it blows but 3 more years is worth Jake and I bet they bite teying to get to the floor while getting a 15 to 20 goal giy at 1.5.
Stop there. Just stop. No more signings. See how the year goes and reload for next year when we will have room for a tyson barrie or a taylor hall potentially eilling to bet this could have all been done but aquaman is losing buckets of money with the real estate govt inflicted slump so I do understand the reluctance to not shell out the dough. |

Is it actually that easy?
Just read an Ian Mcintyre article on sportsnet and this wasn't mentioned....
There seems, however, almost no way out from Eriksson’s contract.
The huge bonuses make it almost buyout-proof — CapFriendly.com shows a cap savings of only $444,000 for the next two seasons if Eriksson were bought out — and sending him to the minors would make some fans happy but save the Canucks only $1.075-million next year.
Could Benning actually trade Eriksson? Maybe.
The only positive thing about his deal is that Eriksson is owed just $9 million over its final three years. If the Canucks retain salary, Eriksson could cost another team as little as $1.5-million a season. That’s doable.
But Benning would still have to find a team that can absorb Eriksson’s cap hit and believe that the player will be an effective penalty-killer and checker when he is 35 and 36 years old.
If he's simply buried, we're still on the hook for the salary, no? |

No. That contract is an absolute anchor. It becomes easier next year when he submits a 15 team list, but with a little thinking from LE and his agent he could make it so that it required his approval to go anywhere but the minors.
Like minivan suggested, the only real hope is that he turns it around.

That's pretty sh1tty seeing I wanted to make an offer sheet on Marner and Laine . You never bring in enough players in one year I always say. |

Don't worry, you'll have more years where you get to be disappointed. There's always another $6M contract around the corner! |

Yes, burying him does nothing and sending him down saves little. If they make that move it would to clear waivers to mutually terminate if the club and him have that talk.
There is a slim chance that he accepts a trade before the season starts. The only teams that could fit him would be Devis, Avs, CBJ & Sens. It would probably cost an asset to add in and the return would be nada. |
