I know. But size is meaningless when it comes to determining how much fight is in the dog. Perlini is huge in comparison to a guy like Sikura but one wins board battles and the other doesn't.
- Elbows15

Gotcha. I was always amazed at his dad's knack for coming away with the puck. He didn't get in the battle, he just cherry picked the battle and had success a good part of the time.
His stride was brutal and there's no way he's 6'1 like some have listed him at. But he'd gain the line, pull a U at the half board, and dish the puck much like Savard used to do. And he did it all the time and nobody ever stopped him. He'd go to the net but from behind guys. Puck pops loose and bang there he was before the D man could act. In his own way he was fearless. If the kid has anything in common with the old man body type is the least important aspect I'd think was important.

Colliton cannot be defined as unsuccessful. He was not a bad coach. He did not have a good team to coach. You seemingly cannot make this correlation for a while on this board

Murphy is overrated, forgets the situation, once in a great while strides up the ice instead of back wards, gets lost behind the net and along the boards but other than that he's good
- BetweenTheDots

And the fargin' bastage was traded for Hammer.

Ask him in Philly where he's an Asst. Coach now. He had a great line up in Minn. and proceeded to ruin it with his "my way or the Highway coaching style. That will work in the AHL where a coach has leverage but try that in the NHL and players will tune you out.

Colliton made a positive difference when the pressure was off. Let him have a camp and at some point a mid season a 5 game losing streak (hopefully after a decent start). How he recovers from a streak like that would be telling in my opinion. And then I would start to form a permanent opinion of him.

I see your point, but Porky the Pig ain't getting anything out of that squad either (and he's a good regular season coach).

Colliton got the vets on the team to play hard in the 2nd half last year, which means something. Of course, some are already certain he stinks, and of course those people know more than Stan. I mean, who doesn't, eh?

I like the Porky the Pig. Lol. Yeo had a good start too until like I said the players got tired of his style and tuned him out. He had the same issue in his next coaching stint.

Yes, they saw elite skill, but didn't consider the laziness, lack of motivation.

I hate guys like this than guys who "are not good skaters".

You can teach skating, shooting, you can't teach WANT.

- kwolf68

Didn't strome have same questions about him in Arizona that nylander has now. He is coming to winning organzation, not of late, and going get a chance to play with hall of famers instead of a poorly runned organization. Big risk but could be high reward.

I doubt Stan made this decision by himself and had input from JC, the Rockford coaches, and every one else in player development and scouting areas.

I wouldn’t doubt Keith may have had some comments during exit interviews as well.

This is a good take. BIG gamble, time will tell. The history revision about Henri is laughable. ...

Oh he's not that good...except every measurable stat says he is.
And we got "a good young forward", who has royally sucked in the AHL for 3 years now and the book on him is he is a terribly lazy hockey player with very little compete level.

He did have similar questions. Whether it's a similar situation remains to be seen. But many can see the future here.

Funny I get the same feeling about Jokiharju, I picked up on that from some of the comments from King in Rockford.

Thaat pro scouting staff is starting to become a concern. These are the same guys that recommended Weise and Condiments. Plus, Kimmo.
- Elbows15

Didnt they also recommend Strome, Panarin, Kahun?

Who exactly has Botterill uncovered? He traded O'Reilly for garbage, let Lehner go, just gave Skinner 9mil....

For the record I don't believe he stinks but when you have players who have played under a 600+ game winning coach with 3 Cups you need to keep that in mind.

If Joker is a prospect, then what's that make Nylander? A zygote?

Another prospect, we traded prospects.

If you want someone with heart it sure sounds like the guy we just got has none. I was ambivalent on that deal at first, but I can't stomach Bowman going for a kid with serious question about his passion and heart? NEVER should you trade for guys like that. I guess if he is really THAT he can finish off his career in Rockford before being DFA'd.

I've heard and seen some great things about Entwistle. We'll see on him.

- kwolf68

The crazy assumptions and thoughts some people have
For the record:
Perlini was a gamble to trade for. He has the ability to score. Has a good shot and skates well. If he can fit under the salary cap, then Perlini gets one more opportunity under a system of play and the pressure to play for a better contract. He should be told what his effort and style must look like irregardless of his goal scoring. You traded for him; then give him a fair opportunity. Last season was a crazy season. Perlini will be attractive to another GM because his skill set. It is about what you can do, not necessarily all about past results.

Nylander is this great talent Bowman unearthed out of Buffalo. Or so he hopes....i would not have traded a dman prospect straight up for another position player or at least be quite wary. I want to hear anything Bowman says about why this trade before he likely gets roasted by me too.

And those players bought in to his stuff, despite their deserved loyalty to Q. Ignoring that in an an evaluation of Colliton would be dishonest, imo.

Time will tell how long that lasts as it did with Yeo where the players supposedly bought in there also. Good point and we will see.
