Time will tell how long that lasts as it did with Yeo where the players supposedly bought in there also. Good point and we will see. - rtang415
To be clear, I don't know what he'll be, either. We'll find out a bunch this season. |

I believe that it indicates that he’s below average in breaking up the opponent’s zone entries, and above average in 3xiting his own zone. I’ll defer to LBR - scottak
If this is about Gus, this is correct. Gus is a possession driving defender, but he was still only so-so at defending the blue line. Granted, he was better at in-zone protection, esp as the season progressed, so there is some trade off there. |

Really...the article I read after the season had King raving about Jokiharju and was sure he'd be on the Hawks - just69sayin
So what is Bowman going to say? Stay tuned tuned in.
Late add: this trade is about Gus' role

Opinion. We’ll see who’s correct after the upcoming season. I’m not optimistic. |

Colliton> See Mike Yeo - rtang415
Really? Based on JC’s wicked good performance? |

Would you rather have Jokiharju, Kahun, and added cap space.....or Maatta and Alex Nylander? - SimpleJack
Option one for me. |

The more i think about it the more i hate this trade, we need dmen not forwards, if he becomes a top 4 dman and the system doesn't produce any RD, i would fire him, we'll see |

Colliton cannot be defined as unsuccessful. He was not a bad coach. He did not have a good team to coach. You seemingly cannot make this correlation for a while on this board - jhawk59
JC’s regular season performance: 5th, 5th, 6th, 1st, 4th, 7th. His defense was 22nd in his AHL season, and you saw last year’s poop show. |

Lazerus loves Jokiharju, and has been very critical of Stan & JC’s handling of him. - scottak
Why would anyone think more of Lazerus' opinion than anyone here on this board |

If he was going to trade Joki, Seabrook should of been with him, he really makes some really (frank)ing horrendous trades, is he (frank)ing drinking WTF |

LBR... how can Gustafsson be judged on his "defending the blue line" when he's still in the oppositions corner when the puck comes into the Hawks zone?

For the record I don't believe he stinks but when you have players who have played under a 600+ game winning coach with 3 Cups you need to keep that in mind. - rtang415
Are these the same players who would play 40 minute games? At least JC was starting to get full game efforts and had the team on a 100 pt pace. |

Stan is an idiot who got the job because of daddy. The joint is run by a marketing guy, ffs. Together they hired a totally inept and unprepared coach. The team is DOOMED. Why even post?!?! |

Im puzzled by this trade. Im beginning to believe when it comes to defensive prospects Bowman just has no clue. How do you give up on a possible top 4 dman? Maybe its best if Bowman concentrates on trading and drafting for forwards and trading or signing for established dmen.
For this trade to happen i truly believe something is going on behind the scenes with him and management. Something - BetweenTheDots
Do you honestly believe Bowman makes all these decisions in a vacuum?

The more i think about it the more i hate this trade, we need dmen not forwards, if he becomes a top 4 dman and the system doesn't produce any RD, i would fire him, we'll see - BetweenTheDots My issues is that the system hasn't produced a top 4 d-man since Hjammer and the best path for that is typically through numbers to increase the odds/probability, so removing one of the 4-5 lowers their odds of getting some hits. It's esp upsetting simply because Jokiharju has show more than the others simply by having played pro-hockey, thought that ultimately seems to have worked against him. Jokiharju would have likely been better off staying in juniors for another season. Mitchell is probably super happy he stayed in school.
I liked Jokiharju a lot so this one stings. His composure and general positioning/instincts were things I thought could be built upon/honed sooner rather than later. Nylander is a high skill offense player, he's got great vision esp, but I dislike how very very bad he is defensively. Not a fan of this but who knows how it'll all work out. |

And Regin, ffs.
But, they did okay on Strome, no? - mohel
Yeah. Though, I think both Schamltz and Strome will end up putting up similar numbers in their careers. Strome definitely bring his effort every game but Schmaltz is miles better defensively right now. That is an area Strome needs to improve. seems willing so hopefully getting another year of off-season conditioning helps. |

A declining Hammer. The truth is Hammer was falling fast. His last season he couldn't clear a puck. |

I’m sorry guys, this is my fault. I forgot to lock my liquor cabinet last night and Stan got into it again. Found him late this afternoon passed out in my office. I’ll make sure I don’t leave it open again. |
