Buffalo will take him too. What does it take?
Is he just a cap dump at this point? - ImThatGuy
They will need a bunch of Cap Space next summer to sign both Debrincat and Strome. CapFriendly showing the Hawks with $2mil in Cap space with only 10 forwards counting towards that Cap #.....something's gotta give. |

How do they get Cap Compliant without trading Anisimov? The move tells me that StanBo views Maata and Murphy (and probably DeHaan too) as Long-Term parts of the defense Core. Boquist as the future #1 PP guy, and Keith still being a contributor until his contract expires. Seabrook, barring a miracle...not sure what they're gunna do with him. - EnzoD
I still think AA is moved in July.

Here's my .02 on Nylander.
I went to a few Rochester Amerks games last season and watched him closely. He has great offensive instincts and has a great one timer but he refused to engage down low, fight for loose pucks and was virtually non existent in the defensive zone. He basically just skated up and down his wing and seemed disinterested.
When he was recalled, he had some good games for the Sabres.
Amerks coach Taylor worked with him to hone his overall game and he was getting better at it...but slowly. Bottom line is if he didn't get the puck for scoring opportunities he was just wasn't engaged in the game. I felt that he was heading toward bust territory. And he has also had his share of groin injuries. |

Maybe they're gonna ride it out and figure it out as they go. There's some pretty good FA's out there that are still looking for contracts right now. There may not be a deal to be had for AA right now. I'm starting to think he might end up starting the season with the Hawks and they will either trade him during the season or will ride it out and figure it out next offseason. They can send down one of their Defensemen and bring up two forwards making near the minimum to start the year off. Especially if de Haan is going to start the year on the IR.

Relax and see how things develop.. The sun will rise tomorrow morning.
Nylander in at 863K cap hit vs Perlini out, at 1.5M cap hit, me thinks.

If he wont go to corners, he is not a fit with 19/88...so people - including JC - shouldnt consider it
It's no secret those 2 have success with forwards who will drive the net and create space. Its why when Caggulia was with them, they had success. When the Drake went down and they began rotating guys there...Kane's number dipped. |

Honestly, this move would have made more sense if it was:
Jokiharju, Anisimov for Nylander + prospect/picks
--
Anisimov is a useful player but his time in Chicago seems to be coming to an end.

I always thought a deal involving Sheary for AA swap made sense.
Saves CHI 1.5 this year
Plays both wings can play up and down.
UFA next year.

Nylander won't add toughness, but if he can finally get it together in Chicago, he will add scoring. Sabres (frank)ed his development up badly. Murray made him the youngest player in the AHL, and he was immediately in over his head. He was eligible for juniors or Sweden, and they chose to send him to Roch. From there, he was hurt, and his effort was questionable for stretches. They say he has immense talent, but he was never able to manage consistency in the Sabres system. |

Joki and AA for Middlestadt would have been acceptable. Good young D and a serviceable 3C under contract for a couple of years for a young C seems even to me.

Maybe imo bowman sees kane doing what he did with the bread man and can help mold him and bring out that untapped potential as the 8th overall draft pick in his draft year. |

This move is a little puzzling to me but maybe it’s as simple as Bowman and/or Coliton not feeing Joki was gonna play on the big club this year and some combination of Mitchell/Boquist/Beaudin/whomever will. At that point you are giving up a #29 pick for a #8 and hopes for a bigger upside with Nylander. |
