Nylander will get face planted into the boards by Quenneville taking his job in camp and I think both beat out Sikura... I like the competition coming anyway.
- rpeters01

Or Shaw, Seabrook, Keith if he floats in the preseason. This is where a championship pedigree vet needs to step up and "Tutor" the youngling.

Someone will pick up Perlini - we might get a low pick or prospect back.

As for AA - don't be shocked if a sweetener is required to move him along. I am still of the unsupported and purely speculative opinion that there is no market for AA or Murphy right now. At best he goes to a club with floor problems and is cash strapped (see: OTT).

OTT has three open forward spots to fill (one is yet unsigned RFA C Colin White - hmmm interesting - 47 %FO, 41 pts last year 22 YO) and $22MM in cap space. They won't trade Brady TK, we don't want Bobby Ryan.

Is Boedker at one year left at $4MM worth a swap?? Same production, but Boedker is younger and speedier though 10% worse in the dot. Tradeable in mid-season due to expiring contract...maybe...

But more to the point on AA, I certainly hope they find a replacement for AA of equal or better value before they let him go. I also hope that envisioned replacement is not Dach. I don't think putting him on the third line (or in the NHL right away for that matter) is the best developmental path for him.

VAN signs Ferland for 4 years x 3.5M.

Dang good deal.

- Tyler Cameron

Sure is some were saying he was going to get 6 m but that would have been too high.
Think Vancouver are a playoff team this year.
I think Chicago have improved but I'm not sure they are a guaranteed playoff team.

Who would have you wanted Shaw for the draft picks or Ferland for free with 2 more years on contract then Shaw

Tyler's right. Good deal. I don't think anyone saw such a low deal. I'd take Ferland but Shaw may have the chemistry with the core.

Anyone listen to the RINK podcast posted yesterday? 1st half was basically discussing the Shaw trade - conclusion being they were not that excited about the trade - pretty much Meh. Personally, i think Shaw is going to be a GREAT add to this team. At a minimum, his intangibles are what we have been missing for a while

The Hawks will be a playoff team before the Canucks, Vancouver is still not a good team. Beyond Boeser, Pettersson and Horvat they don't have much up front. Plus, Boeser, Pettersson, and Markstrom are up for new contracts in the short term. Not to mention that their defense needs a serious upgrade.

The Shaw deal was great, both on and off the ice. The Hawks will recoup some picks (not exactly a 2nd and a 3rd) if Anisimov and/or Perlini are dealt.

Obviously you did not notice his making plays, reliable checker, actually battles for pucks. Msy not be a big scirer but he will get his share. Smart player with obvious skill. Should do well on an offensive line and a mixed type of checking somewhat capable third line. That third line likely will see many looks thus season. Sikura will just have to prove your expectations were too low. Some people need to see instsnt big time results or everyone else is questionable
- jhawk59

Not suggesting that offensive improvement won't occur, but if Sikura continues to NOT produce offensively at the NHL level, yet remains a smallish, positionally sound, decent defensive forward...

...isn't he really just another guy that's expendable?

Without scoring I don't see a reason for Sikura on this roster...he was drafted in the hope that he'd produce offensively, not become a 170 lb. 4th liner.

All that being said, good luck to Dylan finding his scoring touch in the NHL.

Listening right now, and they eluded to the organizational view of Mitchell as a key factor in moving Joki. I am going to try and see some DU games this year to watch Mitchell live, as he was not overly impressive on TV during the Frozen 4.

This makes a lot of sense, especially since the team can be patient with Mitchell if needed.

I'd be interested to hear your feedback on Mitchell when you seem him live.

I didn't think he was impressive playing for Canada in the last WJC either.

Thanks. It literally freezes when I try to post. Doing it from my phone which is always a treat. 😉

Exact problem I was having in Internet Explorer. I couldn't type more than about 15 characters before it would stop and lock up

Mitchell - did he get a goal in his first game with hawks a few years ago? so many D coming thru, but that sort of sticks out to me - scoring a goal from the Blue Line?

It's clear to me that StanBo's main motivation for this trade was simply to keep the Hawks Buzzfeed humming into the 2nd week of July.

But seriously, it's been a wild 2 weeks, as fun as any prior summer of the last decade. And the surprises, few blog writers/fans saw some of these transactions, thus keeping the rest of us wondering what Stan might do next. Still true now....

And the fun will continue into October when it seems like 8-9 faces will be new on the team.
