I guess if they weren't going to ever play Joki in the NHL...might as well trade him before he lost more value
For whatever reason, they see more from Murphy, Koekkoek and Dahlstrom than him...so get what they can and move in.
Turned a 2016 29th overall to the 2017 8th overall. - PatShart
They see more from Murphy, deHaan, and Maattaa than Jokiharju for this season - and more from Boqvist, Beaudin, Krys, Mitchell....
I don't think he was ever competing with Keokkoek and Dahlstrom for the 7th position on the team. |

Alex is nothing like his father. May want to reign that in some.
He floats, quite a bit, as it seems disinterested in the AHL.
Maybe he puts it together, he is still very young. - ImThatGuy
He just said his frame is like his father's. |

This is a really good trade for the hawks- granted these were two players not happy with their circumstances.
Under the old regime, of GM Tim Murray. They made the decision to NOT send Alex Nylander anywhere but their minor pro team in Rochester, which probably wasn’t the best judgement.
The kid got injured and struggled each year trying to get healthy.
Henri was made that the Hawks identified he played differently after taking big hits and there looks like there are three right handed defenseman in the prospect pool already, so when his agent asked, they found a very NICE fit, with a kid who in my humble opinion, has one of the best releases I have seen, and all the tools to be a really nice NHL player for the hawks upfront.
Poor Henri? Nope.
He wanted out.
Nylander is as big as his father was, 6’ 1” and 188 and I LIKE IT- you can’t give teams to give you early selected drafted guys and yet again StanBo got himself some. - wiz1901
Thought it a little odd this morning when Henri wasn't on the camp invite list. Put me down as another who likes this trade. Stan traded somebody who didn't want to be here for a possible top six forward. |

Why not just keep Kahun and Joki, not to mention the additional cap space
On a positive note, now Mitchell is a lock to sign after the season |

But why is Connor Murphy so far to the left...isnt that the bad side?? Hmm - PatShart
How old is the chart? |
|
|
|
Well ... I guess that means we're down to 3 horsemen.
Add Nylander to the list of Stan's 1st round reclamation projects. I think at this point we can call it a trend. |

Even better question, why is Eric Gustafsson so far right, isn’t that the good side? |

Another positive I took away from this trade, they must be sure that Mitchell is signing on after the season. |

There are times when this board begins to resonate like the proverbial echo chamber around here. I don’t know much about Joker beyond what is said here, and everyone seems to think he is going to be top notch first pairing material. Why would someone so close to being ready, who played so well for Q, not get a callup during the second half of the season? Were we that desperate to make a run during a banner year for 88 and 19? It was a banner year for the offense because Q wasn't there to helicopter over the defensive priorities and not because they suddenly found another gear.
Colliton must see something in his game he didn’t like. So that’s fine with me. I just wish I knew what to think of Nylander today. Time will tell I suppose. |
