I bet they are far apart with Perlini, so the Hawks low-balled him, and can now, with adding Nylander, add a forward, reduce cap hit, let Perlini sign low or go UFA, and Joki was the price.

Too many young D in the pipeline, and for whatever reasons, Joki was viewed as most expendable.

Truthfully, after some real contact with men, Joki was never the same.
