I'm fearful that the only way the team can move AA is that they have to give a pick/picks, not receive them, given how close to the cap they are right now. Or they have to take back another below value cap in return. Hope I'm wrong.
- jrsamu

What's the plan after they trade AA? Do you really believe that management can go into the fall planning on Dach at 3c in his first year? If that doesn't work out you're left with kampf as 3c all year, and only 4 natural centers on the roster. What if toews or strome miss a few games? Does kampf at 2c sound great? I know that AA isnt the best but at least he has the experience and chemistry with kane.
Cant move AA without adding a center and that will most likely negate the cap dump angle unless your willing to take a big downgrade

I think they'll keep AA and move him a year from now when Dach is ready for the NHL. A team will only have to pay $1.5 million for a $4.55 million cap hit.

Didn't Joki step in in the beginning of the season and look like he belonged, i guess let's see what Makar looks like with 82 games under his belt.

This reminds me of the TT situation, the org just quickly soured on him and there was all this Schmaltz talk who was even more skittish than TT, Stan got lucky flipping him for Strome and Perlini. Now they are saying the same thing again, oh we have all this talent blah blah blah, i liked TT and i liked Joki, he showed flashes, all i can do is hope Nylander is all that.

- BetweenTheDots

It could very well be that the org did not sour on Joki. It could simply be that they knew they had a logjam of d prospects and a dearth of high end forward prospects. They just traded for two more d-men that lock up positions on the big club. Joki was the closest to the NHL, and maybe he wanted to play now and let it be known (who knows). At this point the move looks like simple asset management.

I agree, moving AA next year makes much more sense. Unfortunetly that doesn't help the cap situation this year tho...
I'm thinking they either move perlini and go into the season right against the cap or stan makes one more unpopular trade and moves Saad.

Unless Stan pulls off a miracle and trades Seabrook, I'm not sure what other option they have to be cap-compliant once DeHaan is off LTIR....if it's between Anisimov or Murphy that have to be traded for Cap Reasons, thats an easy decision IMO...goodbye Arty.

Crawford comes off the books next year

I wouldn't be surprised is Saad gets moved at some point this year - if needed. He has 1yr left at the end of this year and a modified NTC kicks in the last year.

AA, could get moved during this year if Dach proves he can make the team and play center. Or at years end as previously suggested

They are fine with the cap

If Stan trades Perlini the Hawks don’t need to make any other moves to be cap compliant.

are you sure? Capfriendly has 2G, 8D and 10F with 2 mil in Cap Space. Typically teams will have 23 man roster, correct? So even with sub $1mil contracts in those last 3 spots, that is $1mil over the cap at the 23 man roster......right?

I could see Nylander playing with Toews and Kane to start the season. The 2nd line with cat,Strome, and Kubinic(sp),and the 3rd line being Saad,Dach,And Shaw.

Dahlstrom or 4K wil be sent to Rockford,

Perlini should only get 1.5 but they can go up to $1,925,000 and we can still field a 21 man roster

They only have to submit a 20 man roster to begin the year

Thanks for that, I thought it was 23 usually. IF they can stay cap-compliant, then I agree that they should keep Anisimov as a depth center. The goal is to make the playoffs this year, and Anisimov is a versatile depth player with a solid 200ft game.

If Stan can get Perlini to agree to $1 mil then we could field a 22 man roster, but i just don't see that happening

As currently constructed, my guess for starting forward line-up is as follows:

Saad Toews Shaw

Cat Strome Kane

Dach Anisimov Kubalik

Caggiula Kampf Carpenter

Sikura

Nylander is softer than Joki and couldn't even star in the AHL, why do we think he earns an NHL job. Hope he does, but I doubt it. What a big improvement over last years group though.

People need to stop with them not being able to field a complete roster

It has been posted over and over that they can field a 22 man roster and be under the cap

Kubilak-Toews-Kane
ADB-Strome-Dach/Nylander/Sikura or Perlini at 1-1.3mil (not worth it, but can pay it)
Saad-AA-Shaw
Caggulia-Kampf-Carpenter
Quennville
Keith-Gus
Maata-Murphy
DeHaan-Seabrook
Koekkoek
Crawford
Lehner

Twenty two
22
Vientidos

No AA trade. No Murphy trade. Cap compliant. 22 players.

Cripes.

In my opinion dach should go back to juniors unless he blows the brass away so much that he EARNS and forces them to keep him in the nhl. Lets not rush dach development so lets wait and see what happens in development camp traning camp and first 9 games of regular season.

I wonder if the same people claiming Nylander is too soft at 20yrs old are the same complaining that Tuevo was too soft and needed to be moved? 🤔

I agree, but this is my guess for opening night. Dach will get a look at wing for 9 games. Plus, I personally don't mind AA as a 3C. He is good in the locker room, is not afraid to go into the corners or the front of the net and his cap hit for what he produces is fine.

I can't wait for everyone on this board to lose their poop when Sikura is used as a sweetener to move AA.
- SoftServe

That's not going to happen, AA is a cheap 3rd line center ... I mean he's only owed 2.5 in actual money...

Right now AA is probably pretty popular for teams up against the cap that need a 3c or depth at wing or center....

I wonder if Bowman can put together the first top 9 that were drafted in the top 10...

So you’re going to put Dahlstrom through waivers I assume.

Or Koekkoek

Not sure why they need 8 Dmen and/or have to trade a Center to keep Dahlstrom
