No, his faceoff % is not great and defensive capabilities are average at best. - BlackhawkMike
hence why I will continue to believe that trading for AA is the wrong play. Do better, Jason.

If you don't like Vesey, you really won't like Virtanen. |

Don't you have to protect KO due to his M-NTC?
I think Ullmark will be autoprotected too? So can you protect another goalie then or would you even protect Hutton with UPL? |

This is interesting.
So in your scenario, Risto is left out.
The Sabres are offering a 1st plus Okposo, or they can just take Risto |

Honestly I can see Risto on the team in October but he has to be gone by next year. |

I think so too. I'm just going off what's here
There might be better free options for Seattle on the roster than Okposo plus a 1st is what I'm getting at.
They saw how Vegas was competitive in year 1. Do they want to saddle themselves with him, or do they take McCabe or Johansson or someone else for free? |

Kyle Okposo and Evander Kane will be excellent 3rd liners for Seattle |

It will be interesting to see if Seattle follows McPhee's example and make a bunch of side deals instead of just taking the best names on paper. |

They have 2.3 in cap space and I'd take Virtanen, no way they move Horvat or a couple others. - SABRES 89
Virtanen would be very nice on the 3rd line.
That is one kid I had high hopes for. He hasnt panned out for his draft position, wonder if he is on the block. |

Micheal Ferland has signed a four-year, $14 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks.
Ferland was one of the biggest names left on the UFA market. He had 17 goals and 40 points in 71 contests last season. He's solid secondary scorer and is just 27-years-old, so he should be fine for the length of this contract. This is a good pickup for Vancouver as it looks to transition from a rebuilding squad into a contender.
How will they pay Brock Boeser? - SABRES 89
They gonna send about 4 contracts down to Utikka... They'll have 6.2 mill in cap space left over after Ferland signing... Hopefully they can trade Tanev or Virtanen |

Interesting to thing ahead to which 3 defensemen and 6 forwards we would protect next spring.
Probably Joker, Miller, Montour (Dahlin and Pilut would be exempt I believe). I'm not going to cry if we lose anyone else.
For forwards, Jack, Skinner, Sam, Rodrigues, Johansson (Olafsson and Mittelstadt exempt), and I will leave one spot open for a trade. Unless Vesey signs long term. - matty12345
Johansson would need to be resigned if we protect him. He will be a UFA going into the Expansion draft. If it works out here, and he wants to come back, we are better off having an extension on the table for him to sign right after the draft. |

They'd be silly not to. Even if they didn't strike gold with a few players that propelled them up the charts in year 1, they were still loaded with assets that a GM would cream his pants over. A GM of a new franchise has a little more leash then a normal one you'd think, so set yourself up really well 4 years down the road while still selling out most nights due to the "hot new attraction" in the city. |

Seattle receives a 2022 2nd round pick from Buffalo, and selects Kyle Okposo. |

I think they'd just take McCabe or equal for free instead. How many bad contracts did Vegas take? |

quite a few.
Two years left of Okposo, cap hit of 6 million, real money of 4 million. That to me is not far fetched. |

Have to get to the cap floor. If KO only has 2 years left, might be a good possibility with the right sweetener. But if that's the case, we'd have to be near the cap and can't afford him. Who knows what our cap situation looks like then. |
