Others know the intricacies of LTIR more than me, but it seems preferable to be able to LTIR a guy and save cap at least during the season

One can actually still play(as of now) and would be owed less than what Clarkson been paid.

Clarkson has been paid 22 mil to not play the past (including the upcoming) 4 seasons.

Okposo is only owed 8 mil.
