nelson, scandella and hunwick all stink

none would be missed

- homiedclown

I think nelson gets a lot of flack here for his wussified (non) reaction to the hit on jack...he's a solid reserve defenseman who doesn't cost a lot and has 18 points in 93 games

yeah but he won't be missed or something. The kid has value, like it or not.

Pens like Chad Row-duddle, and Nelson is definitely better.

it was brought up on GR yesterday, it seems that we are literally cornering the market on RHD. Does give us a position of strength to trade from...
- hehateme

Absolutely
RH defensemen are a premium in the league
As long as they’re good, or promising prospects

I think we’ve got a handful
Probably can’t fit them all into the lineup at once
So more trades (maybe not right away) seem likely

You build from the blue line out through the center position.

The back end is set and the centers at least for the future look set.

I can't believe our pipeline is flowing again. Definitely need more promising forwards, but defense is quite strong. And to think, two years ago there were cobwebs in it.

Only Rasmus Dahlin and Miro Heiskanen (82 games each) played more NHL games last season as a teenaged defenseman than Henri Jokiharju (38). In fact, no other teenaged d-man played more than 7 games. #ThanksStan

minus the ROR trade (and I really don't give Botts too much poop for that trade casue I think his hands were tied) I think Botts has done a fantastic job of fixing the Defense which in theory should help the offense. I mean if we have more puck control the other team can't score right......

IMO, we have the best core D in the league now. Might take a year or 2 of experience for it to pay off in the form of a deep run, but damn they look good on paper. Young, fast, skilled

Bustlander is gone. He will not be missed. Maybe he'll take that entitlement chip off his shoulders in Chicago and actually compete. Anyway, good riddance.

What a trade for Botts! The Athetlic's Hawks journalist pegged Joki as the Blackhawks #1 prospect in their organization. We are now set up beautifully on the right side for the next 5+ years if we want:

Miller/Montour/Joki and Borgen.

Nelson is gone. Risto will be traded for Top 6 help. Bogo will hopefully be traded once he gets healthy and back in the line up.

I said yesterday that i love our Centers,
and we don’t really need to acquire a 2C
Just gotta let Mitts grow into it

Eichel- obviously our top dog
Mitts- 1C talent, should be an excellent 2C
Cozens- 1/2C talent, great 2way 3C
Asplund- 3C talent, great 2way 4C

Davidsson- has 2way 3C potential
Routsalainen- top9 talent, probably on wing

So we look pretty stacked moving forward imo
Just gotta let them grow into their roles

I find it hard to believe that a guy who looks to be a certifiable bust with barely a 40 point/82 Games AHL scoring pace is the best that we could have gotten for a guaranteed #4 RHD, with #2 D potential....at 20 yrs old, who just played for Finald's Gold Medal World Team, and was a favorite in his rookie year of the 2nd winningest coach in NHL history.

Sorry Henri, 33 yr old Swedish League Legend Coach Jeremy Colliton didn't like you, so now we get a boom or bust lottery ticket in Nylander. I hope Nylander can get open and bury wide open looks given to him by Kane or Strome/Debrincat, bc he sure as heck doesn't seem like a guy who can play anywhere but in the Top 6.

I really am hoping it was an attitude/motivation/mental thing with Nylander and he will be excited to get a chance to play with Kane and show why DrafSite.com's (and Hockeybuzz contributor) Wiz said this about him.."possible the most skilled player in the draft. "

I really liked Jokiharju...calm, poised, smart, good passer, accurate shot, played far more mature than his age when thrown into the worst D-Core in the NHL as a rookie last Fall....I really think that Dahlin-Jokiharju can be a legit top pairing for years to come.

I agree the centers should be good but Mitts is still a few years away and cozens could take 3 years, why not get a stop gap #2 center in the mean time? With the D seemingly fixed with a true #2 center this team should absolutely be a (dare I say)playoff team.

i say go for it. Go get a #2 center and start making the playoffs.

the consistency thing is his biggest problem, and it's a huge problem. Motivation seems to have improved. But in order to be effective, he needs to overcome both. We've thought for years that Nylander might have had some entitlement issues, and he sorta proved that in the presser last night. Like I said before, I've always pulled for him to succeed, but he has some serious hurdles to jump.

That's a major part of his problem, as well as seemingly wanting to play "his way."

He's walking right into a great situation for him, so he underachieved his way to a golden opportunity in chitown.
