That's not necessarily a good metric. There's a "moron factor" with coaches that's missing in that analysis. - buffalofan19

I didn't see anyone mad that MoJo (who will struggle to get 20 goals) was given 4.5. Don't see why giving Laine 9 to score twice as many is a bad idea. - matty12345
I'm still waiting for someone to address the fact that during Laine's best 2 years, he shot 17% and 18% |

Talks about being chunky, skinner had him under his wing, and that the new faces are exciting. Kind of threw Housley under the bus - Sabretooth9

Look at his 15 powerplay goals from this year. He sits right where Eichel does. Are we going to bump Eichel to PP2? - jcragcrumple
Jack doesn’t really have a spot anymore though
Didn’t they start moving him around a bunch bc teams were keying on him when he just set up in that “OV spot” at the top of the circle
Imagine having Jack on 1 side & a guy like Laine on the other
That’s a PP that would be extremely tough to defend |

If he's interested in a bridge deal worth $6.5-7.5, sure. No damn way they should hand him an $80m deal - jcragcrumple
Hey jgrags, we traded for another good defenseman
Step back from the ledge, we have now changed 6 out of 18 starting skaters from last year. (Including goaloffson)

Yes, Phil (frank)ed around with it and finally came back to his senses. Olofsson or Dahlin need to play the opposite side with their left shots.
Laine would be opposite of them, currently where Eichel is |

Not that crazy. Dude has one of the 5 best shots in the league. Stamkos shoots up around there. If anything, his percentage went down when he was demoted to the third line and presumably played with worse players and saw worse shooting opportunities.
He shot 12.2% last year in a really rough year, which is still over a percent higher than Skinner's average. He probably shoots somewhere around 14-15 on Eichel's wing with Skinner on the other side. Still should be enough with our mobile defense core to get 40ish every year.
I'd happily sign up for that. We would be talking about one of the 2-3 best lines in hockey. When was the last time we were the best at anything? |

What is there to address? He has an amazing shot and is shooting close to 16% for his career. Don't you expect him to bounce back to 15-17% this year?

Stamkos has the best active shooting % in the league at 16.9
He has to be literally the best shooter in the league to get there. If you think he is, then he will |

Do you consider putting Eichel on the point? Something like...
Laine - Reinhart - Olofsson
Eichel - Montour/Joker/Risto
That leaves Dahlin off of the PP1, but could slot him down to the PP2 and have two great units. |

"And [as far as coaching], I think everyone's excited for a new voice, a new person behind the bench just to change things up."
His only "burn".. not that bad, pretty much indicative of the end of two poopty seasons.
Didn't talk about losing weight, gaining lean mass. I'm sure this will be driven into the ground at camp. |

Of course he has a spot. They just used the most transparent tactic in the world and started him on the right side and let him slide over to the left. Every team in the league saw right through it.
Johansson or Olofsson balance out the PP nicely. Both provide the left shot threat they've been lacking. |

I don't watch a ton of Jet's games, but he just might be. Part of putting up a high % is keeping your shot volume down. OV's great, but he's a volume shooter.

Even is he regresses some he has one of the best shots in the league. It will give around 13-14% IMO.
Just as the argument for Skinner is he is with Eichel he will score more, would that not be the same for Laine?
In fact wouldn’t
Skinner - Eichel - Laine
Be dominant.
VO - Mitts - Reinhart as your 2nd line. Any of those players are interchangeable in the top 6 if you need a line shakeup.
You then have
Vesey - Erod - Johansson
Again two wingers who can move up in a pinch.
That offense is very good. |

All of this is correct, but the point of an offersheet is to get the other team not to match. And that's disregarding the four firsts. It's not going to be 7 years at $70 million that gets it done. It's probably 7 years at $77-$84 million that gets Winnipeg to consider walking. Is that, along with the four firsts, still worth it?

That would be a franking outstanding line up of top 9 forwards. And it is very doable money wise. Buffalo has a lot coming off the books next year and if we can find ANYONE to take Okposo we would be set. |
