Even is he regresses some he has one of the best shots in the league. It will give around 13-14% IMO.
Just as the argument for Skinner is he is with Eichel he will score more, would that not be the same for Laine?
In fact wouldn’t
Skinner - Eichel - Laine
Be dominant.
VO - Mitts - Reinhart as your 2nd line. Any of those players are interchangeable in the top 6 if you need a line shakeup.
You then have
Vesey - Erod - Johansson
Again two wingers who can move up in a pinch.
That offense is very good. - ImThatGuy
I would like to have him, especially if the price is Risto, but I wouldn't do the $10/80 deal. A bridge deal worth $7-7.5? Sure. And then when the sample size of his shooting percentage is expanded, gladly give him the max deal |

All of this is correct, but the point of an offersheet is to get the other team not to match. And that's disregarding the four firsts. It's not going to be 7 years at $70 million that gets it done. It's probably 7 years at $77-$84 million that gets Winnipeg to consider walking. Is that, along with the four firsts, still worth it? - buffalofan19
I think that this isn't a question of an offer sheet, but a trade. We offer Risto ++ for Laine, and then sign him to the $10MM contract. |

If I'm a Winnipeg fan, and my team trades Laine, and the best piece I get back is Ristolainen, I'm absolutely livid, regardless of how bad a season he had last year. |

Oh absolutely. This all stemmed from 89 saying Sabres talked to Jets about Laine and Risto. |

Penalties drawn last three years
Skinner - 75
Laine -32 - sbroads24
So roughly 10 more penalties per year,
which equals about 2 more goals
That’s not very significant Broads |

Right, but "Ristolainen ++" implies that he is the best piece coming back. There's no way that Winnipeg does that if that's the case, regardless of what the "++" is. |

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Orioles.
Guerrero is now up to 13 doubles on the season. In addition, the rookie third baseman is hitting .249/.328/.413 with eight home runs, 25 RBI and 29 runs scored through 61 games played. No rest for the much-hyped third baseman as we hit the All-Star break, though, as Guerrero will be taking part in the Home Run Derby on Monday.
Yea, he's gonna look real good in a Yankees's jersey very soon. |

I don't watch a ton of Jet's games, but he just might be. Part of putting up a high % is keeping your shot volume down. OV's great, but he's a volume shooter. - Lunaion
Same, and maybe
I'd still like to see a couple more seasons before deciding which was the aberration, the two high shooting % seasons, or last year when he shot 12%
If you're giving the max deal, you're making that decision pretty quickly |

300 shots a year say with a 12% is still 36 goals. Which is his average first three years in. |

I feel like now is a good time to point out Hall was traded for Adam Larsson. Do with that information as you will. |

I wanted to point out some of the same things were said about Hall here.
That the Sabres didn’t need an overpaid, underproducing winger.

I think it's riskier to give Laine $10m and hope he shoots at a stratospheric 17-18% which is what he needs to do to get back to where we was before this year - jcragcrumple
Can’t u say the same thing about Skinner??
Wasn’t his shooting% a bit above his career totals as well |

Botts strategy is to acquire all the defensemen in the market and then force a team to give up their best winger/center. Genius. |

Yeah, but Jeff Skinner shot 14.9, which would not require him to have the best shot in the NHL
His career is 11.2, and he has shot 13-14% on three different occasions |

Argument for Skinner “playing with Eichel will raise his % and keep it there” it shows this is his Highest % to date.
Argument for Laine “his shooting is at an all time low and it could stay that way”
Seems a little off to me. |

Comparing both of their 3rd years in the league, Hall blew Laine out of the (frank)ing water in all around talent and ability. |
