Trade for Laine makes more sense then an offer sheet.
Risto, Tage, McCabe, 2020 2nd, - lulags
Seems like a reasonable offer actually - good work! |

Can't see them wanting Tage or McCabe
Risto, 2020 1st, and a good prospect like Samuelsson or Borgen seems more believable. |

Would you rather have that package or four firsts if your Winnipeg? |

I would guess Risto, 2020 1st (protected), Tage Thompson, and maybe something else. |

All four pieces are individually worth less than a first round pick. I would take the picks. |

They lost 2 key defensemen. McCabe would fit nicely on their middle or bottom pairing for the right price |

You would give up 4 first round picks and pay him $10.4m? |

The problem is their cap and trying to ice a full team with Laine at 9 and Conner at 7.
No one is going to give 4 1st for Laine. |

No, I would not. Not because he is not worth it but because Botts knows this farks our develpment program for several years |

No, but if I'm Winnipeg, assuming I don't want to retain him at that contract, and that's the best offer on the table, I'm definitely calling around and telling teams I won't be matching a $10.4 million offer and seeing if someone bites. |

Who knows the details of consequences if Laine and WPG can't agree on a contract AND Laine's not accepting any offer sheets?
I don't believe he is arbitration eligible but I may be wrong. |

He's not. Same situation as Nylander last year.

Speaking of Nylander, I wonder if that starts a trend where teams are willing to go all the way to December with these RFA's. |

The same thing that happened with Nylander (the good brother) in Toronto. No arbitration and it came down to the deadline to get a deal together. If the deadline passed he would have had to sit all year. Toronto should have traded him last year when his value was sky high. |

He's not arb eligible. I'm assuming that he would sit out like Willie Nylie. I highly doubt it comes to that, but I think that would be his only option.
Edit: very late. |

So if WPG won't budge and nobody will give him an offer sheet he wants, what is next? Does he become a UFA at some point? Or will WPG retain his rights until something happens? |

They tanked the market for RFAs by lowballing Aho.
Would they really think highly enough of Laine to offer him more than Aho? I don't believe so. They needed Aho more than Laine |

Not that crazy. Dude has one of the 5 best shots in the league. Stamkos shoots up around there. If anything, his percentage went down when he was demoted to the third line and presumably played with worse players and saw worse shooting opportunities.
He shot 12.2% last year in a really rough year, which is still over a percent higher than Skinner's average. He probably shoots somewhere around 14-15 on Eichel's wing with Skinner on the other side. Still should be enough with our mobile defense core to get 40ish every year.
I'd happily sign up for that. We would be talking about one of the 2-3 best lines in hockey. When was the last time we were the best at anything? - matty12345
16-89- whoever
Edit*
At one point Craig Simpson was gonna make that line even better. That didnt work.
Brad may filled in to the best of his abilities |

Something would give eventually, but he wouldn't become a UFA until 27, if he refused to play.
The player is just killing himself if he doesn't play in his 4th year to become arb eligible.
