Ryan Johnson, Tage Thompson and about 70% of Colin Miller. So, that could be cool I guess.

I find it hard to believe that a guy who looks to be a certifiable bust with barely a 40 point/82 Games AHL scoring pace is the best that we could have gotten for a guaranteed #4 RHD, with #2 D potential....at 20 yrs old, who just played for Finald's Gold Medal World Team, and was a favorite in his rookie year of the 2nd winningest coach in NHL history.

Sorry Henri, 33 yr old Swedish League Legend Coach Jeremy Colliton didn't like you, so now we get a boom or bust lottery ticket in Nylander. I hope Nylander can get open and bury wide open looks given to him by Kane or Strome/Debrincat, bc he sure as heck doesn't seem like a guy who can play anywhere but in the Top 6.

I really am hoping it was an attitude/motivation/mental thing with Nylander and he will be excited to get a chance to play with Kane and show why DrafSite.com's (and Hockeybuzz contributor) Wiz said this about him.."possible the most skilled player in the draft. "

I really liked Jokiharju...calm, poised, smart, good passer, accurate shot, played far more mature than his age when thrown into the worst D-Core in the NHL as a rookie last Fall....I really think that Dahlin-Jokiharju can be a legit top pairing for years to come.

Thanks for the scouting report

Nylander does have tons of skill
But he disappears
Idk if it’s motivation, or if it’s just bc he tends to play on the outside & is a pass first type player...
but he doesn’t have the skill if u guys can find some way to bring consistency to his game

He looked fantastic for us in camp last year,
and probably should’ve started with the Sabres
But once he was sent to Rochester it was the same old inconsistent Nylander again
He didn’t earn his way back up here,
and he really could have

Maybe he just needs to be in the NHL with good talent around him?
He’s been a very frustrating prospect for us so far, but hopefully he’ll turn out for ya
Good luck!
I’d say 50/50 chance of him either becoming a top6 winger or just total bust

I mentioned in the Chicago blog last night that SabresBuzz would implode and it would suck in Pens and LeafsBuzz with it.

USHLer at best, Giraffe spin-o-rama master, and 70% of a 3rd pairer. Putza

Wouldn’t surprise me.

Like Strome, I see them putting Nylander in a position to succeed.

It’s one of those “He really needed a change of scenery” moves.

Hope the best for him.

Nylander has skill. What He lacks in foot speed and skating, he makes up for with his shot. Like a b- version of Laine

I honestly do not understand this move by Chicago. Even if Nylander comes around and develops into a top 6 winger, I would still rather have Jokiharju.

Personally I dont believe Nylander will develop into that, but if he does, I am still taking a top pairing Dman over a top 6 forward anyday.

Sorry brobot.

was talking with some guys from the Red Line Report after the draft...said that he was had the most talent, but disappeared for long stretches only to pop in with a great move and/or goal...

lacks motivation last year when a player like cj smith was looking nhl-ready, on many occasions Nylander looked like an ahler

And how long do we suck until that happens.
Can we stop the suck? Please?

- TheSabresTaco

Sure, that’s the goal
But a guy like Mitts could/should be playing at a 2C level by the end of this year
Asplund looks almost ready for the NHL
And Cozens should be here next year

So do we really NEED a 2C NOW?
I guess so
But are guys like Brassard even worth bringing in?
He’s pretty much trash now
Mitts may have passed him already

So is it worth it to give up assets for a legit 2C when we have so much Center talent that’s so close to making a difference for us?

I don’t think so
But that’s just my take on the situation

I agree the centers should be good but Mitts is still a few years away and cozens could take 3 years, why not get a stop gap #2 center in the mean time? With the D seemingly fixed with a true #2 center this team should absolutely be a (dare I say)playoff team.

i say go for it. Go get a #2 center and start making the playoffs.

The only explanation is that the Hawks have a logjam on RHD in their system...Seabrook is the immovable boat anchor, Connor Murphy, Adam Boquist is a future Erik Karlsson-esque, and Ian Mitchell probably could've turned pro but went back to Denver to be the Captain. I honestly think they view Boquist (obviously) and Mitchell to have higher upside than Jokiharju. Also, with Joki, Murphy, Boquist, Seabrook all in the system, it's very possible Ian Mitchell would pull the College UFA card and not sign with the Hawks.

Stan Bowman has ALWAYS been infatuated with skill guys so he must really like the shot and offensive potential of Nylander in the Hawks top 6. Can he be a Right-Shot Left wing and be Panarin-lite with Kane? Then it would be a win win for both teams.

They have to move Anisimov. It's really their only play. Maybe Enzo here can comment.
