Apparently we just need to have Jack play with everyone so everyone will score 30-50 goals. Can one team have multiple Rocket Richard winners? - adambuffalo

So a different type of offer sheet system? - Stripes77
Kind of, but it is not as prohibitive for the other teams.
Or do a you can sign 1 exclusive RFA once every three years.

The last two years show that this new wave of GMs are getting smarter.
Who was the last 6-7 year deal other than Panarin?
Max deal is 3-4 years for UFA currently.
Mince the last of the dinosaurs are pushed out UFA is going to change drastically.
In 3-4 years UFA is going to look much much different. - ImThatGuy
Duchene (7)
Tanev (6)
Bobrovsky (7)
Lee (7)
Skinner (8)
Hayes (7)
E Karlsson (8)
Nelson (6)
W Karlsson (8) but he was a RFA
All the others were UFA's or about to be UFA's when they re-signed with their current team |

I’d say most of those contracts are responsible other than Bob.
(Karlsson is a great contract)
Duchene is a great contract for a 2C.
UFA is changing, do you disagree?

They're both righties. They both go in the same spot, ideally. If you watch their highlights, they both score from the same spot. Could you do something different? Sure, but it wouldn't be what they do best. They are redundant on the PP, and PP is what Laine does best. - jcragcrumple
Eichel can play any spot on the PP imo
and if Laine can shoot from the RW 5v5,
then i bet he could do that on the PP as well
I think you’re making WAY too big a deal about it |

Duchene took less to go to Nashville
Do not like the Hayes deal at all
E Karlsson's is a BAD contract based on his body
But I do agree 5-6 year deals were more the norm this time around with a bunch of 4 year deals in there too |

I pointed out that they currently play the same position on the PP. What you extrapolate from that information is up to you

Of course.
I assume the Flyers GM will be fired in ~3 years because of the hell he created there.
Again, once the “old school boys club” gms are moved out, the new wave of GMs are going to change how this league is run.
A few years ago Wayne Simmons’s is getting a 6-7 year deal, this year he got 1.
The days of Kyle Okposo contracts are few and far between imo. |

Changes I would like to see.
Current club can offer max 7 year. New club max offer 5.
Opt out clauses with 2 years remaining for club, 1 year remaining for player.
This does not apply to ELCs
If player ops out goes into new bucket of exclusive rights RFA
If signed by new club, new team forfeits two first round picks or old players club choice of prospect and a 2nd rd pick. |

I would think the upcoming expansion draft and the expiring CBA had a lot of influence on this year's free agency. |

I think you are going to see that more and more with Vegas. The team is already insanely popular over there. It's a destination for obvious reasons, and even the people that live there absolutely love it because out-of-towners rarely go off the Strip, which is great for privacy. |

I like this but wouldn't you be concerned this leads to more bad contracts like Okposo since it would give the GMs a sort of "oops, my bad" card later? |

The early contracts signed were based / assumptions that the salary cap was going to go up.
Some of the signing during free agency reflect the no cap change and not as high as expected. |
