Should be one interesting season as the division is the best in NHL.
I see this being another tough season where it will come down to the final week to see if we get a wildcard spot.
Dallas, St. Louis, and Colorado look to be near the top.
Chicago, Nashville and Winnipeg one notch below those 3 fighting it out for wildcard.
Minnesota still trying to figure things out and waiting for Arizona to join division so they have someone to share their misery with. - BlackhawkMike
I think the Hawks could be a pretty damn good team this fall if the team has chemistry.... If the top 6 clicks like they did last season, and the bottom 6 can grind and kill penalties competently and our defense actually plays defense - this could be one hell of a team that could contend for the division lead of if not a straight up Cup contender...
Who knows how it could play out?
I can tell you this - on paper the Hawks are a drastically improved team - and they would have been a playoff team last year if our defense and goaltending wasn't a tire-fire...
And who knows, maybe Dach and Nylander fit the team like a glove and put up 50 points a piece.... And it's possible - look at what Strome did when he came to Chicago.... Strome was basically a "bust" and he comes to the Hawks and clicks immediately and puts up almost a PPG... So it's not like a change of scenery can really turn things around for a player ..... And Dach, who knows? could be ROY and win the Calder.... Both players are going to have the opportunity to play with some really talented players....
Not to mention a tandem of Lehner and Crawford is a significant upgrade from what we had most of last season, and 17-18...
So yea, I'm pretty excited for the start of the 19-20 season... |

Eklund = Tanner
There's no way the Hawks are in on Rantanen, if the Avs don't sign him Sakic wil be gone - BetweenTheDots
Unless Bowman trades for him...
Sometimes UFA compensation isn't always the best option, because whom takes over the role vacated by Rantanen? ... So yea, in some situations trades make more sense for both teams ...
Who would the Hawks send? I don't know, but to say Bowman having interest in Rantanen isn't as preposterous as it sound if Anisimov, Saad or Murphy or even Gus is involved in the deal or if Bowman has a deal in place to retain a little bit of salary and send Seabrook to Florida .... I mean I could see that - see Bowman retaining perhaps retaining 2 million on Seabrooks contract, not only that but Seabrook at 4 per isn't really that bad, not to mention Seabrooks salary dramatically decreases the next 3-4 years of his contract...... So that would make Seabrook actually movable...
My point is there are creative ways to make trades that look impossible on face value actually realistic - it would take a lot of GM gymnastics but certainly possible... |

I mentioned a while back that Forsling was considering heading overseas.
One trade later, my contact was right about that one.

Good call Tyler. Anything else happening? It's been 5 days since Stan pulled off a trade. |

If he decides to come back to play in the NHL. Is he (Forsling) property of the Blackhawks?. I don't know how that goes so forgive my ignorance. |

Guess he didn’t want to play in Carolina. - walleyeb1
Looks like his rights only acquired by a KHL club. He may not be headed back.
A report from the Russian website, hawk.ru (translation required), KHL’s Avangard Osmk has acquired the rights to defenseman Gustav Forsling from Sochi, whose rights are currently owned by the Carolina Hurricanes. The 23-year-old was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks as part of the Calvin de Haan trade last month. The blueliner is a restricted free agent. Forsling has played 84 games in two seasons with the Blackhawks, but might have a hard time cracking the Hurricanes’ defensive corps this season. No word on whether Forsling is even considering a return to the KHL.

His NHL rights were traded to Carolina in the DeHaan deal. |

Ha. I'm not hearing anything on my end.
Sounds like the Perlini situation is held up because they are trying to move him and/or Anisimov.
Despite what some same, the Hawks have another move (or decision to make on Perlini) to get comfortably under the cap with a 23 man roster. |

I really hope Perlini isnt a pain in the ass, I'd really like to see him with a Blackhawks sweater on considering the forward depth we have this year |

Meh.
He’s young enough that they probably shouldn’t just let him go, but he’s really not shown anything that makes me think he’s worth more than whatever his minimum Qualifying Offer would pay him.
Stand firm and don’t overpay for a guy who had one good 10-game stretch and was invisible the rest of the time. |

with the stable of bottom 6 forwards, addition of shaw, dach possibly making the team and the trade for nylander...perlini is an asset that is expendable...no need to overpay him at this point...
i suspect his rights might be moved as part of a larger move say...umm...with AA.. |

Honestly we don't even know if Mitchell is that good? If the kid wants to go back to school, (frank) around for another year and come out as a rookie free agent, not much Bowman can do about it, but please don't trade anymore possible top 4 defensive prospects - BetweenTheDots
He can't be a rookie free agent, he is only going to be a JR at Denver.
He'd have to wait two more years.
Hayes did it once, and everyone worries about players bailing on the Hawks. There are at least 4 or 5 cases I can remember of players the Hawks drafted, played 4 years of college hockey, then signed with the Hawks.
Don't know why everyone stresses so much about it. |

I hear what your saying but if he truly is on the block then at least Saad is going the other way realistically. I'd be okay with that he'd look great with Strome and Cat.
I wonder if there is any coincidence with the trades Bowman made and all 3 contracts expire the same year a new tv deal will begin?
With the new tv deal Seabs contract won't sting so much. Remember he has a NMC.
As Bowman always says I'll listen to any trade offer. |

Honestly after watching his highlights he's okay. I wonder how good Nylander can be? I'm more convinced now they are very high on him. We'll see, but the one guy they better not trade is Boqvist.
But i agree, why stress |

So did Oli Maata for Pens but some here tout this acquisition as proof team got better in the offseason.

Pretty sure no one is pointing solely to the Matta trade as the one that makes the team better vs say the trades collectively.
Not sure how someone wouldn't look at the trades completed this year and last and not feel that at least on paper, the team they will field this year, is better than the one that started or finished last season. |

Quotes not working but agree with Hawks in D.
It should take a bit of time to see the fruits of the D trades with de Haan being shelved for some bit of time.
Cannot help laughing at the Tanner blog. Might need to jump into the fray. Too funny. Laughing out loud. |

I tried to see all the video out there on him and he was pretty ordinary and on the smaller side, didn't stand out. I know Makar is a #4 pick but he definitely stands out in his videos. |
