Not bad MTL.
I had a similar post yesterday but it included Riley Smith and Cody Eakin.
I view Mantha as similar to Smith.
Either works well to me, I agree with Eakin as a decent stop gap for a year, assuming a low acquisition cost. - IonSabres
Seeing Vegas needs to shed salary to get under Cap I think Eakin can be had cheap and we have a role for him now. Also he will be playing for next contract which bodes well.

Once again, all of your Stanley Cup wins came before expansion, need I remind you? Your team has actually sucked for way longer than ours has. |

it was kind of shocking to see all the pending ufa's (including a couple of your faves--gus and lockport) and to look beyond this year at so few long-term deals - Michael Pachla
I like the work he's done this off season for the most part, and it's nice that only Skinner, Eichel and unfortunately Okposo are the only long term contracts. So are we thinking that it's another transition year, and Vesey, Bogo, Scandella, etc. will be dealt at the deadline? The roster attrition is good, but we're still a couple moves from t pegs comment that it's time to win now
I'm still not sure what this team is. It's not a tank roster, but it's still pretty mediocre. I'm hoping a Risto move is coming soon. It would be nice to bolster the roster and take a real run at the playoffs, without banking so heavily on internal progression |

You know what’s great about the Jokiharju and Miller trades? And to an extent Montour, is that we no longer need the ridiculous justification of “who will replace his minutes?” for keeping Ristolainen - sbroads24
I would be happy trading him to Tampa for Johnson and Foote. We get the 2nd Center we need and replace Risto spot in organization with a prospect. Borgen and Joker can take his minutes now.
Johnson’s minutes in Tampa get replaced by Cirelli and they get a RHD who is playing now in Risto. |

They would not trade Foote, especially after drafting his brother. |

I think it’s looking like a playoff team. If the coaching/goaltending is up to par.
That and trading Ristolainen for a legit forward.
We have a young franchise center and franchise D man. That’s incredibly important
We have acquired depth with playoff experience in Miller and Johansson
Other solid young D depth in Montour/Joker who weren’t here or here all of last year
Mittelstadt will be better. Olofsson could be a shockingly good player
This team is one move away from being pretty dangerous.
Its a good time to be a Sabre fan

I like all these points. There’s a lot of reasons for optimism. I run into trouble when looking at the rest of the division/conference and figuring out who the Sabres are overtaking for a playoff spot. But that’s why we watch the games. |

The Lightning are are big fans of esoteric outsider art music. Especially The Shaggs and their song “My Pal Foote-Foote”. |

Assuming we can't purge more Salary (Hunwick/Sobotka/Scandella/Bogo) Sheary and Vesey are serviceable for this year
The 5.1 million resigns Rodrigues/McCabe/Ullmark
Scandella is playing for a contract and may respond well to Kruger.
Trade Risto to the Wings for Mantha and take the 4 million in cap space gained and flip it to Vegas for Cody Eakin (exactly what Vegas needs to get under cap) for a song
Eakin's 1 year serves a perfect stop gap for Mitts to develop. Adds another potential 20G for the lineup and some much needed leadership and a vet presence.
Skinner-Eichel-Mantha
Johansson-Eakin-Reinhart
Vesey-Mitts-Oloffson
Sheary-Rodrigues-Okposo
Thoughts? - MTLSabres
Kinda like it. Although I'm not 100% sold on Mantha and Eakin might be a reach for No 2, its a pretty good group of forwards

I hope we trade jake to the wings instead of risto
And trade risto for the center
|
|
|
|
Skinner/Eichel/Mantha
Olofsson/Mittelstadt/Reinhart
Vesey/Rodrigues/Johansson
Girgensons/Larsson/Okposo
Sheary
CJ Smith
Sobotka to Iceland
That’s an NHL lineup - sbroads24
If we're putting mojo on his off wing, it might not be a bad idea to swap him and Mantha.
😂 Iceland. That's funny 😂
