Skinner has value, he’s a bonafide top 6 forward and can bury the biscuit. He will never be worth that contract and I’m sorry in a salary cap would every penny counts.

I’m not sure anyone disagrees with you that he isn’t worth 9 mil x 8. It’s a slight overpayment.

But you’ve gone so far down this path of trying to prove it you’ve convinced yourself Skinner doesn’t make anyone else better and he’s just a one dimensional second liner.

Makes me wonder how did we get this far without killing civilization?

I disagree about him being OK in the NHL.
He showed flashes every now and again, but way too infrequent to stay there.
IMO he would be best served learning how to play a complete game down on the farm, including how to dominate at the power forward position and continuing to produce at a PPG pace.
Once he masters that, then he can come up and apply his power forward skills there.

That’s essentially what skinner was his entire career until he plays 70 games on Eichel’s wing. We are also paying for future production not what he did this past season. Every year the guy has had he’s come back down to earth the year following. $9M for variable production is quite risky. He might generate chances at an elite rate but the only thing that matters is the chances that go in. Skinner was 3rd in points on our team this year and that’s the truth.
