I appreciate this site and Ek's commitment but why would we trade Sanheim to MTL? They don't have enough assets for us to give him away. |

They have nothing we would want that would fit a trade.

Unbelievable match. Neither deserved to lose. Federer playing at that level at 37 is amazing.

You know he is kicking himself after blowing two match points on serve. |

Couturier at least had the Junior pedigree of being a player with an offensive upside. He was a top ten draft pick with 2 96 Point seasons in Juniors. The only semblance of high-end offense hayes displayed pre NHL was as a 22-year-old in college. No team, even a rangers team that was lacking for offense, put Hayes on the first line, nor has he in his career been given any extended time on the PP.
But sure he could be a first-line center |

Bill,
Very off topic and really just a per peeve of mine. Do you have any insight on the history, tradition, future of the double logos at center ice? We are the last team in the league to have them. I always wanted to see them go to 1 large logo at center ice.
This decision has nothing to do with much more than optics. It's bothered me. - cdearth23
Ed Snider liked the double logos. Other than that, I can't say.

In todays NHL the top line is nothing but a title. Benn and Seguin for instance have been on separate lines despite being top line players. It isnt about skill, its about best fit. TK is not a top line winger yet and he has been used a lot on the top line with Giroux. It is just a title. |

I am sure agents use what line their player plays on in arbitration. I seem to recall a few years ago Jake was on the 4th line with VDV and another fourth liner. It does seem that the line a player is deployed on does matter.
good luck with hayes on the top line, let me know how that works out |

So you are contradicting yourself. Nobody said Hayes is our top line center anyways. Coots is. Do you like complaining because it makes you feel better about yourself or what |

Coots has exploded after playing with G. I get the idea behind splitting them up but I'm personally not crazy about it.
I think Hayes will be fine with JVR and Jake. Hayes and Jake are good enough passers and JVR can clean up the garbage. |

As already said it's just a title. TK being on a line with Giroux doesn't make him a "top line" player. Many teams seperate their "top line" players to spread the scoring out amongst their top 2/3 lines. |

What, realistically, would it take and would we give up for Laine?
Granted he had a down year last year with 30 goals, 50 points and a -24 but I would still take that production on the FLyers.

I dont know if there are any tennis fans in here, but Federer is playing Djokovic in the Wimbledon final and it is 7-7 in the 5th set.
Now 8-7 Federer after breaking serve. - MBFlyerfan
cant believe he didnt put him away
it will be a long before you see two of the alltime greats, although not in their primes but still ridiculously skilled, in a match like that again |

You were the one who called me dumb for suggesting he was a borderline 2nd/high end 3rd line center.
Now today, those are just titles?

Notions like "top line" are stupid
Coots is our no1 C but he doesn't necessarily have to play on the top line
O'Reilly was on the 2nd line for the blues but he was their 1c |

Someone who averaged .77 ppg last season is 1st line quality point production. And mind you he played with bums last season. Youre right though hes probably just a 3rrd liner and yes. Jamie Benn playing on the "1st line" not with seguin does not make Sequin a 2nd line player. Voracek not playing on Giroux's line does not make him a 2nd line player etc. So yes it is just a title lmao. Have a nice day! |

Switch G and Lindblom and I like those lines. I think the race for top goal scorer will be between Coots, Lindblom and JVR and each should play with good set up men which also gives those guys a finisher to play with.
Coots gets G and Jake. (Jake also has two good scores to set up). Lindblom has Hayes to set him up and TK can buzz on that line. Hayes will need a scorer if we expect him to approach 60 pts. Hopefully OL and TK can score 50 between the two of them. JVR has Patrick and likely Frost to set him up. Also gives Frost 2 guys who should score 20 to set up (assuming Patrick doesn't bust which I don't expect, I think he's just gonna take some time like many of the Centers from Coots draft). |
