I'm not sure the thumb injury would inhibit this one way or the other. It sounds like he will be ready for training camp. Perhaps conditioning would be a little bit of an issue, but other than that, he still sounds like he's in "either he has it or he doesn't" territory.

Even if he got his 9 games, I don't think he would have stuck around anyway. It might have been beneficial for Botterill to be able to point to his pick and say "look, he's playing," but I don't think Cozens would make a noticeable positive impact this year. If they wanted an impact from 7oa, the play would have been to trade the pick

Let him develop this year, try again next year. Is it true he's not AHL eligible next year, either?
