Wrong.
Read the last line.
What Evidence Can Be Presented
The evidence that can be used in arbitration cases includes:
The player's "overall performance" including statistics in all previous seasons
Injuries, illnesses, and the number of games played
The player's length of service with the team and in the NHL
The player's "overall contribution" to the team's success or failure
The player's "special qualities of leadership or public appeal"
The performance and salary of any player believed to be comparable to the player in the dispute - Powerslave
Guaranteed an arbitrator literally goes “lol that’s a joke” and that contract gets thrown out the window during the process.

There is no reason to be excited for him.
The dude asked to be sent to the minors cause he couldn’t hack it.
If he produces, great. But I expect little to nothing from him. - ImThatGuy
If you've got Okposo, Reinhart and Sheary playing RW, you're condeming VO to Rochester or press box for Lazar. Sounds like an awesome way to win a game. |

The arbitrator LITERALLY says "it's a joke"?
I highly doubt that. |

A player chooses to sign a 1 year deal well below what his market should be
It is NOT cap circumvention
Like what was posted prior what happens if he gets hurt? What happens if he doesn't produce?
Again it's a risk they player took - Stripes77
Again, it is if they they say it is. 30 teams should be complaining right now, and I guarantee the league is carefully considering their options.

Alexander Nylander canceled his vacation on short notice so that he could join the Blackhawks' development camp.
Chicago acquired Nylander from Buffalo last week, so until then he obviously wasn't planning on attending the Blackhawks camp. Once the trade happen though, he wanted to start his time with the Blackhawks off on the right foot. Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman took note of that. "It was pretty short notice when I talked to him the day of the trade and said, ‘We’d love to have you in Chicago if you can make it work,’" Bowman said. "I think he did have a vacation planned, but he canceled that to come here, and that shows his desire to acclimate with our group right away." He'll be a serious contender for a roster spot during training camp.
Guess he found his love for the game. |

I actually wouldn't mind Zadorov, Mcnabb or Foligno. If you could rid the team of Hunwick, Scandella, Nelson and Bogo and replace them with Zadorov and Mcnabb on the D, and replace Sobotka or Wilson with Foligno then I think we are a much tougher team to play against. |

It's things like this that suggest to me that Botterill didn't give a poop if Nylander came because he was just going to trade him anyways. |

Wonder if it's similar to scoring in sports like diving or gymnastics where they throw out the highest and lowest scores. There has to be a comparable that signed a contract that is way too high that would cancel out this contract. |

I haven’t seen any reports to say otherwise.
If this were the Sabres and they signed a 40 point player to a 1 mil contract. I would be ecstatic, and so would everyone else here.
We’d all be female doging how it’s not cap circumvention, but it’s smart. |

I don’t think it has to be outliers in each side.
An Arbitrator should be smart enough to go “that contract is poop and not comparable in my decision” |

Right?
Someone overpays for someone and someone underpays someone
A basic arbitrator throws those 2 away
They don't use just 1 players salary
It's statstics
Throw out the anomalies and go from there |

Of course it's good for the team that does it. The question is whether it's good for the league, and my answer would be no |

Big risk for Labanc, honestly. If he has a bad year or suffers a bad injury (I hope not), it could really make this whole situation a lot more dramatic. - Phatjohnsn
He's taking all the risk, imo. Not sure there are a lot of players that would want to take the risk. |
