I'm not saying your wrong, except the most appropriate competition wouldn't be the juniors. He dominated as an underager. We'll see where he ends up, and you're not wrong in saying that stats lead to your line of thinking. Just need to see what he's got, and I think it should be based on him not those that came before.

Agree on all fronts with the exception of the last bit of characterization of what I’m saying. I’m using people to illustrate a point that fits the generalization I made, not basing my belief on his performance based on others. I’m saying that we need to temper our expectations so we’re not calling him a bust in three years when he’s just a kid.

I have a similar feeling about VO. Expecting anymore than about 35 points out of him is too much IMO.

I agree. They absolutely should not start the season with him in the top-6. Too much of a gamble

I wouldn't mind if they waived Wilson or some other scrub and kept Cozens on the roster for a month or two. Let him practice and hang with the team and play him once a week or so, or when someone gets hurt. Then he can go back to jr in late November. Or just send him back after training camp.

Wouldnt that burn a year of his contract, just to hang out and get to know the guys?

I think he gets a decent look in camp, should be healthy

They signed him so if he is ready he sticks

Not sure why fans are struggling with this simple concept

Stuffing olives with it certainly pushes that theory its limits. I'm not crazy enough to test it though.

He has to play 9 games to burn a year. He can stick around until he hits 9 games if he's on the roster

If he shows enough in camp, that wouldn't be the worst way to go. Keep him around practicing/working with the big club for an extended time. Gives him a taste of what it takes to stick in the NHL. If he doesn't unquestionably earn a spot, at least they've had time to work with him and send him back to junior in November with specific parts of his game to work on.

Yeah, he can be in Buffalo the whole year and not burn a year as long as he doesn't play 10 games.
