Adrian Aucoin speaking about Mogilny.
The former Canucks defenceman explained that Mogilny could pass as well as score goals. He also told this Mogilny story, which includes how he fared playing for Mike Keenan:
“Alex, he was not the most motivated guy because he was so (frank)ing good. He was so good it was scary.
“He could pass, he could shoot, he could skate, he could even play really physical. I’ve seen him bury guys in the corner, take the puck and go and score because he was pissed off – at will.
“(One time) we’re in the locker room and Keenan is all over him. We were like holy poop – normally he’s not on Mogilny like that.
“Mogilny looks up, he’s like, ‘Mike, have you ever heard of how I defected, how they (frank)ing threatened my family, how they wanted to kill everybody? You think you’re (frank)ing scaring me?’
“We were like, ‘Holy poop.’ It was pretty crazy. Mike didn’t know what to say – he normally gets the last word.”

The agreement was made when the CHL was by far the best developmental league in the sport by a mile. That's the leverage they had. Otherwise the CHL could make a rule where only players that were not property of NHL teams could play, thus leaving teams with nowhere to put their players that weren't even ready for the AHL yet. With the NCAA becoming more and more competitive, and junior-aged players able to compete in the European pro leagues, that's no longer the case. - buffalofan19
It's true, but really a hollow threat. The CHL benefits greatly from having drafted players play in their league, essentially for free.

That's the part that baffles me. The fact that the highest level of the sport has no ability to influence it just seems so... NHL. - jcragcrumple
I’ve mentioned before on a tweak on the transfer agreement that could work for all parties( NHL/CHL/Player).
Limit an NHL team of no more than 2 under 20 exemptions a year to play freely between the NHL or AHL.
Then open up the CHL to more underage players that can qualify for exceptional status. Teens are getting faster, stronger, taller, and more mature at a younger age now. This will help soften the blow of losing in upwards of 64 players(once Seattle comes in).
A compromise might be to allow the NHL to hold the rights to all players drafted for 4yrs. Thus allowing the team to give a player in upwards to 3 yrs in the CHL and up to 2-4 years(depending on CHL player status) in the ECHL or Euro leagues before they have to sign a player.
As I said there needs to be some tweaking but I feel the parameters are there for a deal that works for all parties. |

And then do a transfer fee to offset lost gate revenue and jersey sales. Boom. Done.
If owners are too cheap to pay the transfer fee, they stay |

It's getting harder and harder to argue that the CHL deserves any favoritism.

Yes but you can’t have the league fold either. |

Is there really any danger of that? When you don't pay your players, and you're playing hockey in Canada, how can you not make $?

Avs sign J.T. Compher to four years, $14 million deal, per @FriedgeHNIC
Would he be considered a comparable to ERod? Seems a bit high for the production. |

They’re banking on growth. He’s gotten better every year.
32 points in 66 games last year.
If he can stay healthy, I see him in that defensive role being able to hit 40 low end 50 top end. |

If you're ERod's agent, absolutely. Kind of frightening if you're JB.

Honestly they're pretty comparable players. At this point, I'd rather have Erod, his possession and play driving is better than Compher's. Their offense is very similar, and he's only a year younger. 3.5M is definitely an overpayment for what he gives you. I was thinking Erod would get something like 2x2 or 3x2.4 ish. Now with Compher signed, those numbers could rise a bit. |

I don't know....he regressed last year. His minutes and PP time are going to drop, as the team gets better. I don't see his production hitting those levels.

Compher just turned 24 in April ERod turns 26 in 12 days. |

is there really a question that JT's the better player? He's a true C and better at both ends of the ice.

Regressed?
He put up more points in less games and was more defensively responsible.
And the same thing about production drop can be said for ERod. |

Comphers underlying numbers are rough but he’s also still young and hasn’t had solid line mates yet |

Asked you this back on page 4 (sort of) but where are you getting the "play driving" assessment? I'm curious how thats being measured. Thanks. |

KOAL KAWFELD = elite goal scorer at 5'7 163
Cozens = go back to CHL and take care of your body at 6'3 185.

Sorry I missed. Connor, while still young and promising, has so far been carried by Mark Schiefele. Sam Reinhart on the other hand is doing the carrying, players rely on him to make themselves better. |
