You must’ve been wearing a Tavares jersey. Snakes like to gather together.

No.
Well I mean when I was in my early 20s I went to one for a while but it never came up in conversation.
Btw I highly recommended getting one for your anger. It did worlds for me when I was unhappy with life back in the day - Santo_44
Maybe you should seek one out for your delusions?
I’m as happy as a clam.
Seriously, re-read over your posts, you’ve been hyperventilating for some time now. |

Oh where abouts? I’m near bracebridge.
And it’s not likely a rattlesnake, but possible.
Those water snakes are bad news, and they bite. |

I’m sorry as an outsider looking in usually when someone says “I hope you drown in the nearest body of water” to someone online it’s usually an indicator
I find pointing out grammar silly as well...but hey whatever makes you happy.
And that’s fantastic if you believe that...I’m debating about hockey but you are welcome to believe I’m hyperventilating over it...whatever makes you happy brother. |

Say what you want about those "weaker" blueline teams but they are not the norm and the top end forwards in front of them are literally the best of this generation in Crosby, Malkin and Ovechkin who could score themselves out of trouble.
Additionally, those "weaker" bluelines, still featured players that could effectively play the shutdown role, kill penalties and actually keep the puck out of the net, something the Leafs blueline hasn't proven it can do.
And finally, those teams also got incredible goaltending from Fleury, Murray and Holtby, all three better than Andersen. - JohnFergusonJr
I find that these arguments are very subjective. Pittsburgh won their first cup despite Marc-Andre Fleury. Fleury is great when he gets hot, and very mediocre when he isn't. He reminds me of Felix Potvin in a lot of ways. But I, personally, and I'll take heat for this - think Fleury is overrated.
Holtby is a good goalie. He won a Vezina. He didn't deserve it. There were at least 4 guys better than him that year. But his team was good and he won a lot of games.
Murray put in some great performances, and this year he was 9th by objective measure and Andersen was 10th. Rask was 29th. It's hard to measure Binnington on a smaller sample. But the point is that goaltending is all based on recency bias. Andersen is capable of being that guy, but he has not been yet.
Did you watch the SC Finals these past few years? These shut down guys were just as porous as the Leafs D. I'd watch cross-crease passes, one-timers, odd-man rushes and so on like crazy in the Playoffs. Often reflecting that the Leafs D, as awful as it was, was basically worse at protecting the slot, but otherwise just as weak at protecting against transition and the rush. Pittsburgh and Washington were keen to trade chances because they had the firepower. Toronto is the same.
So are Tavares and Matthews down the middle the current equivalent of Malkin and Crosby? With the supporting cast of Nylander and Marner and back-end play being driven by Rielly and Barrie?
I don't know and neither do you. But it's an explosive approach.

Oh okay yeah, you’re in rattler territory closer to Georgian bay. They made it only to a couple isolated spots in Muskoka. |

I think for Andersen to be successful he needs help. Way to many high end chances. Keep allowing those and eventually the pucks are going to go it.

There's no denying that. I'm a piss poor goalie, but I've played. I'm not overly athletic, but I was always light enough that moving around wasn't typically exhausting in and of itself. Playing on a weak team whether you're even facing shots or not - in constant movement - is exhausting.
Having a backup to come in and spell him for more than 15 games would be a start.
We all talk about this elite puck management defenseman who will control the back-end. A Parayko, a Slavin, a 2009 Duncan Keith . . .
For one thing, no one wants to trade that guy. For another, I don't think Babcock's style creates that type of guy. They have limited support. Get the puck and fly the zone. Anticipate the puck retrieval and fly the zone. You have limited winger support on one wall - sometimes - when they haven't flown the zone.
In terms of d-zone coverage, a Defenseman can only be as successful as his forwards let him be. The wingers hover on the side wall, leaving the points open, so pressure down low ultimately results in a reset to the point. To me, that's the primary problem. Not the personnel. I'm not going to say the guys like Ceci or Zaitsev or Gardiner or Barrie aren't their own problems - we all have eyes - but a system that doesn't support even the best players, is going to have problems. |

Leafs 12th in goals against, 17th in PK, 8th in shots against, and that’s with a high possession rate and good face-off percentage. So last year they weren’t exactly a thrill defensively. Now they added two more offensemen.
Pittsburgh didn’t have big names but in 2015-16 they finished 6th in goals against, 5th in PK percentage. They allowed more shots but kept them to the outside.
The following year, in 2017 is the real outlier as they weren’t all that good defensively. Even in the playoffs they were kinda meh but found a way to win. But I wouldn’t put one year of Pittsburgh as my benchmark necessarily. That team had guys that had won multiple times over, award winners etc. Basically the best players in the league.
So I'm not making an all-or-nothing argument. I'm saying there isn't much to be excited about at the moment. - aminnes
Goal differential they were 4th (Bruins were 3rd). They were 18th in goals against, and 4th in goals for.
Net shot attempts they were 8th (Bruins were 6th). They were 30th in shot attempts against, but were 1st in shot attempts for.
Basically, you have to consider both the defensive, and the offensive numbers to get the complete picture.
