It's quite probable. However, it may be a sign that they are close to dealing Strome ad/or Names. Phil has rode the shuttle between the pros and the minors alot in his career. He could be signed to provide a depth piece if a couple forwards are no longer on the roster. |

WOW who would have thought that a team that is rebuilding is now in Cap hell??? Everyone once again say it "Trade Shatty, Smith and Staal, throw in Krieder, Vlad and Buch too boot!!"
There isnt a team out there thats going to take our top 3 without a draft pick or prospect, which, a rebuilding team shouldnt give away, cause, well they are rebuilding.
Trade CK20, Vlad and Buch, cause we have 18, 19 and 20 yos who have proven themselves to be NHL stars already without ever stepping on MSG ice.
Its ok we signed Panarin, we will win the Cup this year - Brukie
Hey Chicken Little, settle down.
It seems you haven't managed to crawl out from under the rock that you thought was the falling sky for the last couple months.
What I'm getting at is, and lean in a little here 'cause this is a secret,...
THE REBUILD IS OVER.
We are going to trade/dump/buyout a few extremely expendable pieces. Within a season, these young guys will fill any minor holes created in being cap compliant. |

Brooks' article is a little short-sighted. Yes... we have some cap problems but honestly it's far less worse than most teams.
While other teams are buying out the far more expensive Phaneufs and trading 1sts to get rid of the Marleau's of the world.... we are 1 trade and 1 less expensive Buyout away from being fine
We are 2 seasons away from having no bad contracts on this team .... pending some ridiculous Kreider contract of 7-8 x 7 of course
Vegas is like 3 million over the Cap and still need to sign Gusev and they've only been in existence for 2 seasons.... we're fine .... nothing to see here! |

The Vegas situation amuses me. Who woulda thought a mediocre GM like Mcphee would in a couple seasons turn back into a pumpkin and start making mediocre decisions again? My only regret is we can't take Gusev off their hands from them.

this is a weird one -
@BroadStBull
Reports suggest the #Flyers, who don’t have much cap space, Rangers and Panthers are pursuing winger Anton Burdasov, 28, a big power forward who had 19 goals and a league-high 114 penalty minutes in Russia’s KHL last season.
he also played w/ all the SKA guys we have now |

I can only see this making sense for us if we knew he was signing for only a few million and we were for sure trading Kreider and/or Buch. |

If true, they have trades lined up or are just waiting for the buyout window to open up. |

his biggest issue is speed, according to the KHL sites - so...pass for me

We need to clear almost 10 percent in salary in hopes of signing everyone. That means trades where we get only picks or prospects or buyouts, either way they leave holes in your line up. - Brukie
We wouldn't be leaving holes in our lineup because we are trying to clear out rostered players for new/younger players to fill those spots.
It's just a matter of how we go about doing that, as mentioned by others we will likely have to add sweeteners with a "bad contract" player such as Shatt/Smith etc or buy them out. |

Lemieux Boo Burdasov - nyrangers9479
probably saves no money and why move fast? good 3/4th liner and can PK - god knows if this guy can be a good PK'er.

Alright everyone go home, Tony the Genius says the rebuild is over, We are going from 24th in the league to being a contender for a Cup with a bunch of 18-20yos who havent ever played an NHL game.
Its easy for Tony the Genius. He doesnt have to think things thru and say things that make any sense. Yea DUH Cause every other team is going to line up and take our bad contracts. Buyouts are easy cause there arent any cap ramifications either. We can just dump them somewhere and maybe nobody else will notice.
Tony the Genius says "Yea dont worry we got Kakko and Panarin and the secret of the Rangers rebuilding is OVER!!! Panarin was the best free agent out there. We cant lose with him now, I see a dyansty"
Yeah Tony, you are the best at throwing shyt on the wall. Although you back nothing up with facts, just stupidity.
- Brukie
i enjoyed that for some odd reason,I feel the rebuild is just about over too
but i like d the beat down ,sorry ...
get a top center to run with zbad.we wont have a problem getting under cap &signing all we need and trading what we dont
Krieds Lias Georgiev can be major parts in a trade to upgrade center
the Shatty,Smith,Names, sell off will happen with sweetners
eat $ , add a 2nd or 3rd rd. pick, add a prospect
as long as it is spare parts & not the Millers or Lundkuists

Shattenkirk is terrible. I don’t mind Fast on the 4th line, just don’t think he brings much to the lineup. He’s a decent 4th liner, this whole he kills penalties thing is ridiculous. We were 27th in the league last year on the PK, he’s not some penalty killing magician that if we lose him our PK will be worse. |

True.
I'm pretty calm, though.
Here's the thing, some of us here get it. And, some just don't.
Several teams in the league would kill to have the problems NYR have right now. |

I doubt it. Burton has infinitely more knowledge of the way things work than this guy.
