Barrie at 6 is worth it, Barrie at 8? let someone else pay it. - bobbyisno1
As Adam says, let's see how he plays with our style.
If you look at Barrie's numbers over the past three years, he's 9th in points.
$8m would put him at a cap hit of around 9.6%, which throws him into the territory of Keith, Seabrook, Vlasic, Giordano and Shattenkirk. It would put him below Carlson, Ekblad, Pietrangelo, OEL, Burns, Karlsson, Letang, Suter, Subban, Weber, Doughty . . . and above Yandle, Fowler, McDonaugh, Niskanen . . .
Realistically, based on those comparables, $8m is probably right where he belongs. Term and fit will be the principal questions. |

Last time I played cribbage I was up at my sister-in-law's cottage. There were shots.
I was so drunk I could barely see the cards. I most certainly could not add to 15.
Fortunately, neither could my opponent. |

Maybe we could pump and dump Ceci at the deadline for a better return. It worked for my ex girlfriend. |

In that 31 thoughts Podcast, I believe, there was speculation that teams are going to wait until after the start of the season so the Leafs can't use the 10% overage cushion. That was either Friedman or Marek who said that one.
I mean. That one doesn't make any sense for anyone, so it must be true. |

Barrie's age will play a part in lowering the ask. He'll be 29 when he starts that next contract. |

Just need to hope Pierre McGuire becomes a GM somewhere. He thinks Ceci can develop into a perfect #2. Now #2 the poo or player...hard to tell what he was getting at. |

anything over 5 years at that age is pretty scary
might be a deal breaker |

I doubt he'd get a 7-8 year deal, have to think Dubas would give him a 2-3 yr deal max, if Barrie wants to stay here |

That guy isn't getting a GM job anywhere. All the owners know better. (Surprisingly) |

Presuming that's he a good fit here, and plays this year at the same level he has over the past two years - would you go 8x5 taking him to 34? Term on UFA is such a sticky area.
If he fit here, and played up to expectation, I'd probably consider that - I find that 33/34 area is where players typically start to have steeper decline. |
