This Smilie guy is a complete embarrassment when it comes to hockey knowledge. And each time he posts, idiot Habs fans spawn at an alarming rate.

You dummies need to realize that MB and Molson have got you by the balls....loving your irrational love affair for a team that won't make the playoffs again and will continue to hold onto about $8M of cap space as their playoff bonus ransom. Keep drinking the Koolaid boys and girls...the Habs love you for it.

Trading for an elite goal scorer has a steep price. Those that think they can trade a guy like Alzner or Tatar in the deal is dreaming. A more realistic trade would be Drouin, Suzuki and a 2nd. Now the Montreal fans are going to go No Way, that is too much. But home town fans always overvalue their own players. Drouin has 52 goals (152 points) combined over the past three seasons, while Laine has 110 (184 points). Laine is a significant upgrade over Drouin and that is where Suzuki and a 2nd balance out the trade. Winnipeg might even want a little more.

They'd probably want a 1st instead of the 2nd but that would be a fair trade IMO.

I'd give Tatar over Drouin to be honest. And heck, if there's a chance we could somehow give Byron instead of a top 6, I'd do it

Byron + 1st (2021) + Romanov

- Game_Over91

I wouldn't give the only good LD prospect on the team with the worst LD core in the league right now...

see : Sergachev vs Drouin.

I know I'm going to get shot for this, but instead of Domi, would they take Gallagher?

I think IF you traded for Laine and only gave picks (1, 1, 2, 3) then the Habs could make other salary-shedding deals to make room for the cap and recoup some of the picks lost - although the picks coming back wouldn't be as high.

I don't think that happens, but there are other creative ways to make cap space other than through this deal.

Not worth it to give up Drouin or Domi, just offer sheet him and give up the picks.

I don’t think Laine is worth $10m per though...

So all heart Gallagher who pots 30 for no heart Laine who pots 30+? All to give an ugly contract to Laine? No thanks

Almost sounds like keep the guy who scores 30 that you want your other potential high end young RWs (Suzuki, Caufiled) to learn from, rather than a guy who seems soft and completely devoid of grit and compete...all to give Laine a contract that is ugly and throws off the team salary structure.

I get wanting to add a prolific scorer...but Laine has too many flaws and will want too much cash to make any sense for the Habs. Also...it doesn't seem like cap space is the only reason 'Peg wants to move Laine and it makes me ask why?

Based on watching him play. He's 6'5, 200+ lbs and plays like he's half Gallagher's size. Gallagher plays like he's Weber. Habs need more warriors, not wall flowers

They need to build around guys like Domi and Gallagher. Not trade them.

And if they trade Romanov.....really? Once again?

Well the idea is to add a scorer to this team that so desperately needs one. And I think they want to add one now rather than later and the only way to do that would be through trade since offer sheets are a waste of time and UFAs don't want to come here..

I haven't seen any report of Winnipeg actually wanting to move him.
