Maybe Perlini lights it up in camp and shows that he deserves to be with the big club...maybe. But based on what they did last season, Sikura deserves to come into camp with a leg up on Perlini. By far the more complete player of the two in their respective sample sizes. Perlini has shown squat so far. - Ogilthorpe2
Perlini won't be on a two way $750k contract you are being delusional. |

Depends what Perlini signs for. There's no doubt Perlini has more talent than Sikura, hands, skating and shot, the question is can he commit himself to playing a 200 foot game. We'll see |

We’ll see. He certainly hasn’t earned anything more than that. I’m hoping he won’t be on any contract. He hasn’t signed yet, so there’s still hope. |

Why has Sikura earned a spot? He hasn’t shown much. Tons of guys can come up not score and play a solid defensive game. He’s undersized and doesn’t bring anything special. Don’t get the love. Don’t know why people think he’s better than Smith. An established bottom 6 NHLer. |

Perlini scores 14 goals standing on his head with his thumb up his ass. Sikura scores 0 working his ass off. The guy with the talent gets the job. |

Smith will steal his lunch box and laugh at him.

I’d rather have the guy working his ass off than the guy with the thumb up his ass, and as everyone seems to need reminding about ten times a day, there’s more to hockey than scoring goals. |

Smith will be in the press box most nights by mid season. |

Perlini has size and speed and an NHL shot - what he doesn't have is a consistent work effort to use his considerable physical tools on a regular basis. He also seems to lack hockey IQ or motivation or both.
Sikura doesn't have size or speed or an NHL shot - what he does have is hockey IQ, vision, playmaking/passing and the motivation to play a solid defensive game. I said it a couple years ago that Sikura reminded me of Teuvo with his ability to see the ice and see plays develop and to make little subtle plays that lead to good chances. Will he get to be as good as Teuvo - probably not but there's something there and I believe he just needs more time to find his stride. |

We fans are great at arguing over the last player on the team. It happens in every sport. If Toews and Saad suck it won't matter what Sikura does... |

Unlike Teovo - at a similar experience level - Sikura engages and doesn’t give up the puck at the first sign of trouble.
Sikura has scored at Northeastern, at Rockford -he’ll score enough in Chicago to be a productive and useful player.
Perlini has the physical tools, but has had only two productive weeks so far in Chicago - the other 4 month - nothing.
I wouldn’t give up on his potential - but I’d make him earn every minute of playing time. |

Why does a two-way contract matter in this situation? What is a two-way contract? |
