he refused to listen to the staff on anything to do with his offensive game.

Oh C'mon...this has got to be 99% pure speculation, no? Correct me if I'm way off base but how could you or any other fan/writer possibly have that level of detailed insight into his interactions with the coaching staff...it's not like either of those parties involved are going to leak it.

If other Alex can find the soft spots on that left side and his release is as goof as advertised maybe they get a beefier Patrick Sharp type player that just rips one timers and shoots the zone early...

Which isn't a bad thing.

- fattybeef

Are we talking about Sharp in his last year or so with the Hawks? B/c he was much more than that for most of the time he was playing for the Hawks.

Actually I’m with Z3 on this one, Jokiharju wanted to train with his dad and his aerobics instructor. I kinda got the idea he wanted to do things his way.

ok...i am sure if he was the #1 pick in the draft they would have traded him for this...

my point is i am suspicious that they traded him because of your assertion above...

I noticed his soft play as well. I don't think that he makes it out of prospects camp.

I never heard that one, no idea where that came from.

"He's actually a pretty thick kid for being that young," said Rockford Head Coach Derek King. "He's mature that way. I think the big thing for Henri is playing in the gray areas and being a little harder on pucks, not relying on his skill as much. Sometimes you've got to work hard.

"He's been battling a lot harder. There are times when you wish he would have won a puck battle and all that but that will come with time. With this league too, it's not as structured. It's a little more chaos out there sometimes and that's something you have to get used to when you come down here."

I’m guessing he has no intention of ever returning to Mother Russia.

He must hate Russia saying something negative about an obvious problem in his country. If he doesn't like it, he can leave. SEND HIM BACK!!!

You can clearly see the top level skill that Boqvist has while out there especially on the offensive end. If he can take that next step defensively next year he's gonna be fun to watch in Hawks sweater.

Hagel and Kurshev look like those pesky bottom six guys you need to win in the NHL where they have no quit in their game and just battle for the puck and it seems to find them. Both fun to watch.

I know its 3 on 3 in prospect camp but.... damn is Dach skilled. Idk why some pre-draft knocked his skating. This kid is going to be the real deal.

Nylander looks like the lazy bum he was reported to he. Boquist and Dach are dominating.

I think the knock on his skating was he wasn't blazing fast like Cozens. Everything i read indicated Dach was a good skater who had good speed, was strong on his blades and was extremely agile for a big kid.

Prospect camp standouts

DEFENSEMEN

Beaudin: similar to Kurashev in that he's not flashy but just subtly good in all facets; silky smooth stride; great potential to QB the powerplay just as much as Boqvist

Krys: displayed an endless compete level consistently engaging the other team defensively while also putting on accurate shots on net; excellent skater with tight turns and great edge work

Mitchell: it's so fun to watch him skate; very powerful, agile, and quick no matter skating ahead, backwards, or laterally; while Beaudin is a subtly supreme skater, Mitchell is an expressively supreme skater; aggressively engages the puck handler like Krys

Vlasic: towering frame; deceptively strong skater who moves as if he's a nimble sub-6 footer; good defensively and will continue to get better as he matures; really just scratching the surface

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Entwistle, Hakkarainen, Slavin, Galvas

- AEL_Fox

Thanks for this on Slavin. I liked him the few times I saw him with the Steel last year. Big, goes to the net, wins puck battles and isn't afraid to engage along the boards.

Yeah Nylander looks good but you see him coasting more often than not. Hopefully some coaching and tough love from the vets can correct that.

Dach and Boqvist have been the most impressive from what I've seen. You can see why these two are the top two prospects in our organization and why people think both will make an impact on this team going forward.

Patience, he's young, what do Perlini, Strome, and Nylander have in common, they all didn't play defense, and they all didn't come through the Hawks system. We don't have to rely on him so there's that.

He looks like a really strong skater and he is 19 right? I am sure he can add more explosiveness as he develops.

Never saw a video of Cozens displaying the kind of hands Dach has though. He has great puck protection too.

Dach didn't get a ton of love on this board and I wasn't sure about the pick but I am really starting to like it.

And he's been dating the daughter of the Russian national team's long-time head coach. Sounds like it may be a source of tension between him and her.

From the few clips I saw of Cozens and Dach, Cozens was a straight line, north south player who went hard to the net, had great speed and a great shot. Dach was a more cerebral player who could take the puck to the net but could also find a quiet area on the ice and use it to set up his teammates. He also shot the puck well but established himself as a pass first guy. I'm sure to get the most out of him he needs to shoot more often so he becomes more unpredictable and harder to cover.
