laine 56 even strength goals over the last 3 years playing on decent playoff teams
skinner 83 even strength goals over the same 3 years on crap teams that only had to defend his line

Not the same - gerbe75pts
actually evander was a top 5 even strength left wing goal scorer at the time
so yeah if you say goals is all that counts, it is the same |

It’s not a “trend”
It’s ONE season that wasn’t “elite” - jdfitz77
It’s actually 2 seasons that weren’t elite and that’s what I am trying to tell you.
He was tied for 6th in EV goals his rookie season
He was 20th in the league in EV goals last season (not elite)
He was 112th in EV goals this season
Most likely he’s in the middle of year 1 and 3
But it’s trending backwards for a young player.
And if you can’t see that you are just looking for an argument |

Laine has 3 straight 30+ goal seasons, 2 seasons of 64 points and 70 points. Skinner has never had a back to back 30 goal season, this year was his first 60+ point season since his rookie year. |

But there’s little doubt imo that Laine is an elite scorer in the league, and will continue to be so - jdfitz77
how many jet games have you watched over the last 3 years
pretty sure sbroads watched more then all of us combined
jets were a loaded team, with outstanding puck moving d men, and 3 lines
he is not as good as many on here think he is |

There's no way of knowing yet if the 17% and 18% shooter from the first two years is the real Laine, or the 12% shooter from this year
More sample size required - jcragcrumple
Lol he has the best shot in the game |

Yeah, when your last name is Brown and you name your football team after yourself and then make the primary helmet color orange, like, WTF? Like Cleveland doesn't have enough problems... - Wetbandit1
I say, I ssaid.... Too bad the Cleveland owner's last name wasn't Steemer.

I’ve watched about 40-50 full games since Laine has been in the league.
He isn’t one of their 3 best forwards right now |

I'd rather have olofsson's shot at 800 k then laine's at 10 mil, in a cap era |

Didn't call it unimportant, just that I don't consider it as a dimension. I think most people consider Skinner one dimensional. Clearly there's more dimensions in your universe than mine. - Lunaion

I think the big bucks are better spent down the middle and on the back end. Not many wingers drive play at an elite rate that deserve the money they get. I love Marner but he even won’t be worth whatever he gets. |

I still think best course of action is subtraction
move a few scrubs to ensure some kids can play meaningful minutes this fall
I know many are down on risto, I would even consider playing pilut in rochester and roll
dahlin-new toy
montour-risto
mccabe-miller
play montour on the opposite side so you have the best 6 d men on the ice
this year can be a break out season, or a repeat of the past few seasons |

you never live on a budget, do you?
you have your play money short term in jack and skinner
your sin tax in okposo, sobotka, bogo, and scandella
you have your utilities covered with reinahrt, montour, risto, and miller
you have your grocery money covered with e-rod, mccabe, sheary, johansson and vesey
you have your 401k funded with dahlin, casey, olofsson, and the joker
your out of money |

I think we will have room for one more high end player soon.
I wouldn’t want that to be Laine personally |

they have to move some scrubs before they can add that 1 piece though
and with what we have, I am not sure if that 1 piece needs to be a d man, a goalie, a winger or a center
hopefully this fall will sort it out |

I don't think they do, if Eichel, Dahlin, Skinner, and Sam are all here long term. You're looking at 37m, unless someone backslides.

Cap will rise though too.
I don’t think they can add a 9-10 mil player after Sam, but another 5-7 mil player will be doable |

I agree with moving out scrubs, they still have waaaaayyyy too many 4th liners and not enough top 6 yet. Planning to play Sheary or someone else best suited for 3rd or 4th lines, to play up in the top 6 tells you all you need to know about this roster still.
I'm torn on the next move being for a 2C or T-6 RW, as they need both still.
Unless Botts pulls off two miracles, This isn't the offseason to completely overhaul the roster, next offseason will be equally as challenging as far as filling all the holes.
Start unloading the 765 LW's and 325 RhD's and get a 2C or T-6 RW.
