He was tied for 6th in EV goals his rookie season
He was 20th in the league in EV goals last season (not elite)
He was 112th in EV goals this season

Most likely he’s in the middle of year 1 and 3

But it’s trending backwards for a young player.

It’s not only EV goals.

His shooting % has gone down each year. He hasn’t generated scoring chances like an elite player either.

Also, Wilson could be waived which would save 1 but they still need to move out contracts. If you trade Risto you're getting a contract probably of equal or more in value in return. They would need to move guys like Scandella, Sobotka and possibly Sheary if they're gonna sign Gardiner and trade Risto.
