It’s actually 2 seasons that weren’t elite and that’s what I am trying to tell you.
He was tied for 6th in EV goals his rookie season
He was 20th in the league in EV goals last season (not elite)
He was 112th in EV goals this season
Most likely he’s in the middle of year 1 and 3
But it’s trending backwards for a young player.
And if you can’t see that you are just looking for an argument - sbroads24
Sure, if u want to define him ONLY by “EV goals”
Typical Broads...
Just cherry pick the stat that fits your narrative
Power play goals count dude, they just do |

I’ve watched about 40-50 full games since Laine has been in the league.
He isn’t one of their 3 best forwards right now - sbroads24
Aren’t we trying to build a forward group with depth like the Jets?
I seriously wonder what u have against good players??? |

I'd rather have olofsson's shot at 800 k then laine's at 10 mil, in a cap era - homiedclown
Hopefully Olofsson isn’t anothe Tage
He supposedly has a “great shot” too

It’s not only EV goals.
His shooting % has gone down each year. He hasn’t generated scoring chances like an elite player either.
This isn’t an opinion held only by myself btw |

Why don’t you just do a tad bit of research
https://evolving-hockey.com/
Go to the RAPM charts and do Laine from year 1-3
He has legit gotten worse each year in 5 on 5 goals, expected goals for, goals against and expected goals against.
You don’t have to take my word for it.
The facts back up my opinion |

Typical cherry picking. You intentionally skip over the fact that he's improved on faceoffs and shot blocks every season.

Apparently it's well established that you're biased against good players.

dude, you are taught at the age where you hit to not let up because that's when you get hurt. It's Laine's fault he put himself in that situation, and partly Schiefs fault for the pass. McCabe did everything correct - SDSabre
At what age do they teach you that at tennis though lol.

Yeah. Homie said that Gardner has a 2 year offer from the Sabres. Wonder what the hold up is.
The signing could possible be holding up other trades? (Risto and or McCabe). Based on information here |

Assuming Gardiner gets 5 for 2 years, Ullmark gets 1, ERod gets 1 and McCabe gets 2, it puts them about 4 over the cap. Also, Wilson could be waived which would save 1 but they still need to move out contracts. If you trade Risto you're getting a contract probably of equal or more in value in return. They would need to move guys like Scandella, Sobotka and possibly Sheary if they're gonna sign Gardiner and trade Risto. |

I would assume that if Gardiner is signed they would probably move scandella, especially is McCabe is signed as well, would have too many lhd. |
