No. Tim was bought out. We walked away from JP. The required numbers to do so have increased a lot since then. - Lunaion

I don't see a case getting to the arb ruling, and then something crazy happening. So, I don't think it really matters.

2 years takes him to UFA. Not that it's a big deal, but I think you either go 1 or 3 years. I think it would be hard for him to turn down 3 years @ 2m per. - Lunaion
Based on those numbers - team ask $1.5, player, $2.65
That mean the team wants $2m, and the player wants $2.15m
They settle on $2.05 tomorrow or Tuesday and avoid arb. That's my guess |

Something like that. Maybe they go multi-year, maybe not. Nothing surprising in those requests.

It's a negotiation tactic. You don't ask for what you want initially, you ask for something better, so you can settle for what you want
Both sides realize the number is somewhere around $2 |

I figured. Just seemed very specific the 2.05
I’m more interested in term.
If it’s 1 year than they’re in the same boat next season of having 28,71,22 all FA’s again.
If it’s 3 years I kinda roll my eyes because I don’t even know where he’s playing |

When advanced stats devotees believe things like this, how can they ever expect to be taken seriously?
"Here’s a fun one since he gets thrown around a lot whenever RFAs come up: Evan Rodrigues was better than Kevin Labanc last year. Thanks" |

I have no idea whether Botts sees him as another body for the coming season or whether he wants him longer term for the bottom 6. I would like 2-3 years but it's not up to me |

my guess is it will either be 2 year 2 per
or 3 year at 1.8 per
he is IMO worth more then lockport larry or all star girgens

The problem is hilarious. Labanc was so much better than ERod that it's very hard to argue that he's an appropriate comparable.

The Rodrigues love is odd.
He’s been decent. Definitely worthy of being on this team.
I feel like responding to them “So you’d feel comfortable with him as a 2C?”
Since they think he’s so good |

I got hit by an errant shot on the golf course yesterday. Golf can now be considered a contact sport. Homie that’s another contact sport you play. |

Buffalo has had so many useless players that when an undrafted FA actually plays decently to well, he's latched on to, but he's hardly irreplaceable.
Overall, I get the idea behind advanced stats as an effort to quantify things that are very difficult to account for, but at a certain point, tangible production needs to actually happen as well, unless the thought is players will possess the puck into the net for goals. |

Agreed for the most part, but the counter argument is that there should be many things that qualify as tangible production outside of just goals/points etc.
Erod’s issue is like the opposite of the Laine argument
Erod is a terrible shooter. Like Girgensons level. He also doesn’t shoot from in close or get scoring chances around the net. So he’s very replaceable offensively.
However if he’s on a 3rd/4th line with Vesey//Sheary, some shooting talent, he could be valuable |

I agree with the above, but if they don't end up producing assists and goals, then how many of those players can you actually have on the team?
On another note, looks like the Andrew Copp ARB hearing was this morning at 9. |

Saint Evan has every trait of a fan favorite underdog: undrafted, undersized, fast, exciting, connection to super star. He reminds of Tim Kennedy is many ways.

Not many and I’d never be concerned with making sure guys who struggle to score or don’t have a defined role are here long term.
Erod should be a two year placeholder for Asplund/Davidsson/Cozens etc. |
