I've got plenty of reasons to not want Laine on this team, but the idea that he does nothing better than Olofsson is a bridge too far.

Out of curiosity, who said this, or is that an inference you're trying to make that someone said?

True, but changing the unis so drastically still seems to disrupt the legacy, idk if that's the right word, of the Buffalo Sabres.
Their original uniforms were classic and should never have been messed with, beyond more than maybe minor tweaks. The original Buffalo Sabres logo is still among the best logos in any & all sports (imo). Why they ever went away from it is mind boggling, at least to me it is.
And black & red looks like Ottawa, ytf would you want to look like Ottawa?

Yep. All of that. Excellent post.

I said I would rather have olofsson and an 800k hit then laine with a 10 mil hit

given our cap space

What contract does Tkachuk get from Calgary as a RFA with 77 pts last year?
Is he due $9m ?

No this was before your comment.

I think he mentioned Olofsson just as an example of one of our wingers with a good shot

mick moved, did some really good songs and some was so so

wood, he stole the show

I am not sure charlie was even playing the drums or it was pre recorded, the video did not match the drum strokes

midnight rambler was easily the highlight, outstanding

9-10m

Too bad he wasn't an RFA next season.
At that point I would think Sabres would be in a good position to OS him at the highest level.
He would be PERFECT for this team.

Wasn't meant to be a jab on anyone. Just a fair talking point in the context. Olofsson has an elite shot, but we really don't know if he does anything else above average at the NHL level.

Cap will rise though too.

I don’t think they can add a 9-10 mil player after Sam, but another 5-7 mil player will be doable

- sbroads24

Agreed. If they add anyone else north of 8, things can get very tight. They can handle another mid-range contract.

You are such a simple closed minded person.

Yet you post a video that has little to do with the subject

Should’ve moved up for his brother Brady when we had a chance but lots of people on this board thought he was going to be a bust

Sure
But the supposed decision probably has to be made now

So considering his talent, pedigree & first 2 years...
I think it’s fair to say (at this point) that season3 was the aberration

- jdfitz77

There's no way in hell I'd feel comfortable in any way with the bolded above when the cost is multiple assets and potentially $9M+ per year.

You’re obviously missing the point that he’s making

Yes it’s saving cap space but Patrick Laine is already guaranteed to get you 30 to 40 goals that’s why he gets paid the big bucks

VO Is still unknown ..

If a General manager picked a rookie over a guy that already scores 40 goals this season because of money then this team shouldn’t even be in the NHL

He went full Force into him he could have eased up he knew Patrick Laine would have his head down and then look up quick

Nope.

And before this turns into -I think Laine is awful, I don’t.

I think he’s possibly a generational goal scorer.

But he better improve just about everything else about his game if he wants to be known as an elite player. Because as of today he’s worse at age 21 than he was at 18 and that’s alarming

Goal drought and -24 last season should make any gm pause at giving him a long term high dollar deal at this point in his career.
