Goal drought and -24 last season should make any gm pause at giving him a long term high dollar deal at this point in his career.
- SabresFaninIndiana

He has 110 goals in 3 years .. The only thing we have to worry about is fortnite

He went full Force into him he could have eased up he knew Patrick Laine would have his head down and then look up quick

Hits are cool and all but not the ones you’re Half blind those are the ones that End careers

Jesus Christ dude. Blame Scheifele for the suicide pass and Laine for having his head down, not McCabe.

This is a chuckle(frank) opinion.

Awful take

McCabe has history of doing “clean hits” pretending like he wasn’t intentionally trying to hurt anybody

I remember his “clean Crosscheck to the face” in jrs

If you had ever played organized hockey in your life, you would know that the first thing they teach you is to keep your head up.

Again, awful take

I dare you to watch all jake McCabe’s “clean hits “ he tries to hit their head the cleanest way possible without getting in trouble

I'm not talking about all of his hits. I'm talking about when Scheifele served up a suicide pass to Laine who had his head down and got crushed. That's a clean hit and a textbook hockey play

I always thought Shiefele getting to mug McCabe afterwards was complete BS.

1 “off” season in which he still scores 30goals is NOT “trending”

36goals year 1
44goals year 2

He is an ELITE GOAL SCORER... period

- jdfitz77

I mean, that's literally sbroads' point, particularly the underlined part.

Lol then maybe perfect Patrick should have kept his head up, if you are going to cross into the middle of the ice like that, with your head down you’ll get lit up every time, McCabe did exactly what iphe should have done. It’s not like he crushed him with a high elbow, clean hit through and through.

Is it worth it when you know the hit you will make could end a career ? He knew he won the battle when the head was down he could have gone 60% instead of a 100%
Same amount of damage but no concussion And a safe play

Doubling down on your awful take.

McCabe squared up for the hit and Laine's speed was far faster than McCabe. He skated into McCabe's hit

Right, I don't get it. McCabe didn't even take a step into him.

So because the person has his head down you think it’s right to end their career ?

They made World Series'. They had Babe Ruth. When you think of baseball's most historic franchises, you think Yankees, Red Sox, and Cubs. When you think of hockey's most historic franchises, Buffalo isn't anywhere near the top of the list.
- buffalofan19

Seriously? The Cubs? They've been around for 143 years, and since Henry Ford instituted the assembly line have a whopping one WS to show for it, GTFO of here with "historic", yeah, historically bad.

Being around for a really long time doesn't make you good. The law of averages will eventually work out in your favor.

That literally makes no sense in the context of the hit. McCabe squared up and Laine skated full speed into him. If he had his head up, he would have side stepped McCabe.

I get you want to defend your boy Laine, but this opinion is misguided and reeks of someone who has never played hockey.
